Every year since college I've made the same joke: MGS2 is the most important game of $CurrentYear... and it's always been true. MGS is simultaneously one of the smartest and dumbest game series out there, and it's a complete enigma and brilliant.

I've always gone off the assumption that MGS is, among other things, a piss-take of the techno-thriller genre. Like it's subtitled "tactical espionage action" but the bosses include a fat man on rollerskates and a man with trained killer bees and poo poo. I often bicker with people over the politics of Mass Effect. As with a thousand other franchises, what people try to nitpick as inconsistencies make perfect sense. Like basically galactic civilization is hosed up because everything is organized into capitalist ethno-states.

the subtitle actually changes, iirc 5 is tactical espionage operations i can't comment on the spin offs (ac!d, VR, pachinko, rising, etc), though

gta is way more hit or miss, whereas mgs is more consistent the highs are really high with gta, but the lows are exceptionally low

It kills me that people still deify such a bland candidate. Her selling point was she was the "rational" or "pragmatic" candidate- not some sort of folk hero. It's like that one experiment where scientists made a turkey sex doll and kept removing parts until it was literally a post with a head on it. Throw a bland face on a post, say it will reach across the isle, and the Democrats will gently caress it.
