also, nice to see Wo Fat touring; why the gently caress does no one come to the midwest though? god drat.

Anyways, here's something a bit more mellow, and technically beautiful. Worth a listen:

I had never heard Bask so I decided to throw on the new album last night while editing photos. That was good stuff, I can't say I expected the directions it went in. I'll definitely come back to that one.

I usually dislike the whole HEY CHECK OUT THIS JAZZ BREAK ALSO HEY YALL LIKE DOOM RIFFS HOW ABOUT COUNTRY LICKS AND OH OH OH WAIT FOR THE TRIBUTE TO TOTO'S AFRICA 17 MINUTES IN approach to "progressive" music but this stuff nails it. It's smooth and subdued. It flows.

Vocals are really good too. They're actually the one thing I wasn't sold on completely but listening now, I'm down. Very calming and catchy.

NEW EAGLE TWIN RECORD.

I didn't dig The Feather Tipped the Serpent's Scale as much as Unkindness of Crows, but both of those albums still rip.

2015's Envoy for reference, which I thoroughly enjoyed:

Space-themed blackened doom; Envoy was about the Voyager I craft, and Alien World is based on the novel Solaris.

For some reason I've been avoiding Truckfighters because the name reminded me of Drive By Truckers. When I was around 15 I blind bought a DBT album from Best Buy expecting cool metal for some reason. It was a huge letdown. But Truckfighters? Holy poo poo this is gooooood.

Cool stuff, I love cosmic/psych stoner/doom. Also they're from Chicago so might actually see them in WI sometime.

Reminds me slightly of Snail's "Feral" which was one of my favorite Stoner Meadow of Doom finds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efe90vwKy4c

Digging the new Brume album, feels like they've expanded their range from the psych-y doom of their first release to get more experimental while keeping the original flavor for a couple of tracks.

They're a great live band. Huge sound for a power trio, and a really fun, high energy set with lots of crowd interaction. Super nice guys too! They do use a lot of stoner rock cliches, but they're so good at what they do that it doesn't come across as silly at all.

On a similar note, I was really impressed with Red Fang last night. I only really knew of them from that one video with the beer can armor, but their newer material is excellent, and their live show ruled.

Oh, and here's another new Bison track: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNZ8IFrqRYw

That's awesome, they do come across as a good bunch of guys so it's nice to know the reality matches. I'm not yet very familiar with their albums but I can sense the energy and I guess humor. Demeanor maybe. I don't know what it is but I dig it.

I'll have to listen to the new Red Fang. I was into them when that video dropped but the newer songs didn't hook me right away.
