Watch them all you've got a good 5 hours before the game is back up to squeeze a few in

Yes, we have feathers--but the muscles of men.
I mean "hold up" is a hard way to describe films that were never really good in the first place.

I absolutely love the films and watched the whole drat eight hour Crystal Lake Memories documentary. They are fun as hell but I'd never recommend them as good films to watch. They are films that are awesome for a specific mood. That mood is to watch carefully and lovingly constructed pulp.

Everyone has their own F13 rankings. These are mine:
The first one is actually a good little mystery that was just really bloody for its time. The second is okay. Three, four, and six are my favorites; I feel like they have the most fun with the concept and do the most to build the mythology of Jason as we know him today. Five gets a bad rap but is fun if you love a high kill count. Seven is ridiculous but very self-aware and has probably the best Jason look. Eight is dumb outside of one great kill. Nine is just crazy, sometimes in a good way. X is completely stupid but I have a special place for it in my heart because it was the first one I saw all the way through and in theaters. FvJ is a great time and absolutely delivers--in terms of just style and spectacle it's easily the top of the series. And finally, the remake is a little too mean-spirited for my tastes but decent enough.

I'd say watch part 6 first. It's the one where Jason is first "zombified" which is the most recognisable version from pop-culture AAAAAAND it's a LOT more light hearted than the other films... Well, as light hearted as a film about a murderer can be. I think EVERYONE loves part 6.

As for the other films most people will argue endlessly about their favourites, but the only 2 REAL STINKERS that most people truly hate are Part 8 and 9 (Jason goes to Hell) because with the former you're promised Jason in New York and he spends 90% of the film on a boat and in 9 Jason isn't even in it after the first 10 minutes.

The rest of them are more serious horror/slasher affair (Bar Jason X and Freddy vs Jason, but I'll get to those) 1-4 are one continuous "night" with 4 being the real highlight, if only because of Crispin Glover's dancing. Part 5 is the black sheep of the family because it tries to reboot the series (kinda) but becaue of fan backlash they said, "gently caress IT" and brought back Jason as a zombie in 6. 7 is, in some people's eyes, the most definitive Jason film. Kane Hodder steps into his shoes and adds character to the silent killer and the makeup is spectacular (even if the kills were all neutered horribly by the rating board, which for me stops it from being my favourite film.)

I LOVE Jason X, but some people loath it. It's campy, like Part 6 but almost to parody. "POPULAR VILLAIN GOES TO SPAAAAACE" was a bit of a dumb trend at the time, but in all honesty, I think when it comes to the TENTH FILM of a zombie killer franchise, then why the hell not? There's a bunch of great, ott kills and Jason looks great. Uber-Jason is played up way too much. Todd Farmer, the writer, said it was just meant to be a daft joke at the end and paying it up in the posters was like showing a knob on the poster for the crying game.

Freddy vs Jason is also a great film which is just a lot of fun and low on the horror elements.

The remake is good too, but real dry. Not much humour there.

Part 6 loving owns as is the best in the series though Part 1 is classic and it has a good twist but it's pretty slow.

Know what would have made it fine in my eyes? If it were Kane Hodder in full Jason gear throughout the whole film. Like that bit where the possessed doctor looks in a mirror and the reflection is Jason? That, but reversed. Everyone else is casual about this lumbering horror walking around because only WE are in on the secret.

But seeing random dudes acting like Jason just didn't work for me at all.

Yeah, it's a real shame because the film doesn't feel like a Friday the 13th film because of it. The voodoo thing felt out of place too but the deaths make it a fun watch.

Part 3 was originally released in old school red & blue 3D. I've only ever seen the 3D version in theaters, so I don't know if you can get it anywhere but I'd recommend watching that version if you can find it. If only for the sheer novelty.

Anyone bitching about this game is doing it such a loving disservice because theyre completely ignoring how amazingly this game is balanced to create the most cinematic moments in the exact nature of the Friday the 13th movies. Every time you hear jason near you and have to hide until you realize; stay in this hiding spot or move to the next cabin, either way youre hosed, every time you as jason have to think like "keep hunting these people grouped up together with gas and weapons, or the guy whos all alone who might be fixing the boat himself, plus how intensely fun it is to be using every little trick at your disposal to survive jason for a few seconds, every single mechanic of the gameplay is perfectly tuned so that the game plays out like one of the movies in such a way that anyone who can tell the difference between part 3 and 4 jason is doing themselves a disservice if they dont pick it up. If youre a real jason fan and dont have this game yet, pull the trigger already lol. Its EXACTLY what youre looking for

The best (worst) part is I was streaming this, so the 7 or 8 people watching got to see a basically unmoving view for the majority of the round as I just sat in a hiding spot and waited for either the round to time out or for Jason to get sufficiently close that my counselor would panic and give herself away.

In the future, if I'm ever in a situation where my choices are "commit suicide on the three bear traps guarding the car while I try to repair it" and "survive by waiting out the round", I'm just going to save everybody's time and walk on the bear traps to end the round.

I ended up getting mine even though I had almost 4 hours showing in Steam. 1 hour played right when it launched and then 3 hours of trying over the weekend. It's a real godamn shame too. Game is amazing. If this morning's maintenance fixes the login stuff I'll probably rebuy.

I don't doubt they didn't expect to be this popular. 10-11k concurrent PC players (probably double that for each console) w/ 60k people watching on Twitch. That's impressive as heck for a small dev.

I watched some guy playing Tommy with a baseball bat manhandle Jason for 14 minutes. I'll never be as good as combat as some of these people. Still good at sneaking around as A.J though.

Epic escape story I'm AJ with a shotgun and a pocket knife the cops are like 40 seconds out I'm by the exit Jason finds me I back up down the road but he's throwing knives I shoot him run past him he chase me down hits me once so im limping picks me up i pocket knife him I limp my butt into the tunnel thing he comes after me. Then the cops spawn and shoot him as I exit.

I think a lot of people got spoiled with DbD making survivors very strong. Initially DbD was supposed to be similar to F13 where the Killer had an advantage, but whiny babies cried and killers died.

F13 does right by making Jason an actual killing machine.

I watched the first Friday the 13th this morning, not really having gotten into the movies when I was young (Despite jumping onto this game because of how much I enjoyed watching streams of the beta).

I enjoyed it, though had I not known what was uh, different about it compared to how I guess the later movies play out I would have really had my mind blown and enjoyed it more. I can only imagine it would have been similar to when I read A Study in Scarlet- the first half of that book is how you totally expect the first Sherlock Holmes story to play out, but you get halfway through and suddenly you're reading a western set in Utah about a dude fighting with the Mormons.

Yea the original movie is kind of a rite of passage, everyone should see it once, but its not really that relevant to this game. As far as Jason goes, you really need to watch Part 2, 3, and 6. At the very least that gives you a nice selection of the different Jasons, but really I'd say watch them all once.

7 is the most fun of them all if you want to see Jason throw down with a psychic telekentic girl and her undead dad. A hypothetical Directors Cut of 7 would be my favorite of them all if it existed.

8 lies to you, but it makes up with those lies with some really cool kills. I still want Guitar Jason in the game.
