I also don't think it's going to be a watershed moment, mainly because the biggest takeaway from BOTW is "Put a ton of effort into your handcrafted overworld and make it really interesting to explore", which is something people have KNOWN is good and have shied away from for budgetary reasons. Not everyone can spend forever in development and delay their game for years. It's not something you can just ape and slap onto your own game. But I'd be interested in hearing what elements people are taking away from this and how that differs from past games.

I think no invisible walls is a huge part of what makes BotW fun, that and you get all the fun tools right at the beginning, I hate unlocking poo poo, and I cheat in every SP game to get all the fun poo poo at the beginning for this very reason, so it's an eas y fix but it's really great to have all sorts of gadgets to gently caress around with at the beginning,. One of the reasons I found Wildlands Garbage is that in order to get a scope for my assault Rifle I had to do a bunch of side quests and pick up loot boxes, it was inane, and I hope Ubi realizes that progression should come in minor stats (Health / Stamina) and that the good stuff can be handed to you immediately.

I loving love being able to clamber over any surface in BoTW. No invisible walls and the understanding that I can go anywhere I see was great, not to mention the geographical variation and rewards for exploration built into the game. It's such a stark contrast to when I played Dragon Age inquisition and my primary mode of transport was humping level geometry to see if I can make it over this hill without walking two seconds around it like the level designers expected me to.

My least favourite parts of games is just trucking around giant sandboxes like I'm playing Battlefield 1942 and my jeep blew up. Hold forwards isn't that fun. Zelda makes climbing around pretty fun, and there's enough stuff littered around to make traversal interesting.

Call them 4 year olds. 4 year olds poop in the sandbox. Nintendo are senior citizens, they wear diapers and think business is conducted like it was in the middle ages. I forgot where I was going with this. Um...ubisoft sucks, I guess and Nintendo is pretty good except when it comes to business practices or something.
