This is probably the first time I'm glad I don't have access to the paid feed because I had the experience of reading some of the book and there's a segment where she honestly tries to pin criticism of Justin Tredeau's pipeline and blind eye towards First Nation folk abuse as "tumblry" and it was probably one of the dumbest things I've ever had the scorn of reading. Holy shiiiit gently caress that book so hard.

Her point with that stuff was that saying 'Tredeau is carrying on the proud Canadian tradition of loving the First Nations while then in a week reblogging a picture of handsome sex boy Tredeau showing Trump what a REAL leader is doesn't actually work to a goal'. She's a cultural marxist in the literal sense, and a lot of the writings from those guys kinda center around the idea that finding the root cause of the evil you're fighting is lovely but it's about as useful as pointing to a burning car and going "OH poo poo THE GAS IN THAT FUEL TANK IGNITED AND NOW FIRE IS CONSUMING THE CAR", cool work and that is probably helpful but it doesn't do anything about the flaming car. It's like how RL went on his thing about how him recognizing that he was being hosed over by a horribly racist boss is a direct result of white supremacy and the white privilege his co-workers had in never having to deal with that. It was cool that he knew that, and it certainly inspired him to keep fighting for the right thing, but also it didn't change the fact that he has no options but to take the racist bullshit until he ~just happened to not fit in~. She uses the criticism of guys like Hunky Canada Man on such basic issues as an example because many of the people doing it also had no issue with the Democratic establishment in America even though they also tacitly supported the pipeline and loving natives and all.

Ok I definitely imagined a lot since I remembered something about crying wolf re: criticizing Tredeau when the real racists like Milo came in. I don't know how in the heck I read that. I do fear that a bunch of folk have read RL's words in a way where they gloss over the part where bigotry is actually addressed on the organizing and are just using this as a way to gloss over said bigotry.

I get that some things fly in Ireland that don't elsewhere but if you're giving an example of someone who at one point had virtue, nearly anyone else who's ever lived is a better choice than a pedophile TERF. If there are professionals whose work/points of view/etc. should not be encouraged or even actively opposed (Nagle seems to take it as a given that there are not) then Greer is decidedly in that group and I'd say that even in a universe of limitless virtue one would be hard pressed to look at Greer and say that she has a net positive amount of virtue. It's really shoddy analysis, and not the only example I saw but just the most egregious.

Anti-trans feminism does lead to less and worse support and services for trans people, and considering how rough it is to be trans they have a right to get pissed about that. Terfs aren't stabbing trans women but if they block them from dv shelters, don't offer health services or simply just harass them there's going to be deaths.
