I've seen a few type R's around already, and they don't look super terrible. They do definitely have that boy racer look though, and it actually makes the car seem cheaper/slower than it actually is. It makes me think of the modded cars I'd see in my high school parking lot rather than a performance machine. I have an RS in the nitrous blue and it's rather ridiculous looking. I wanted it that way though. The other RS colors make it look fairly normal, but the blue stands out like a sore thumb in a parking lot. My wife made fun of it at first but she's grown to love the blueberry car. What's the fun in buying a hot hatch if it doesn't look sort of outlandish.

Is the Type-R even a hatchback? Take away the spoilers and get to the base Civic, and isn't it a...liftback? I know Honda calls it a hatch, but is it, REALLY?

An FiST turbo upgrade pic was posted and the thread is still debating the looks of the Type R vs the RS. What does it all mean? Both are over the top, my opinion is that the RS is significantly closer to the base Focus than the Type R is to the base Civic, and the base Focus is much more subtle than the base Civic. That makes the Type R exponentially more garish than the RS, but that's still just an opinion. If we all had the same taste in cars there would only need to be one model, good thing we all have different tastes!

I'm thinking of replacing the WRX at some point and I'm looking at either the Type R or Focus RS because the STI is hot garbage. I drove the Golf R and it's way too sedate for me, but I definitely see the appeal. If Subaru could make a 350-400HP STI, I would get it in a heartbeat but it probably won't happen anytime soon.

I stopped last night around 1230, oil lines and coolant lines are disconnected but the turbo is still held in by the vband and down pipe bolts. I did have a strat e30 tune yeah. It was good, probably made around 200/250 per vdynos. Very conservative tune, never threw any real ignition corrections at all. These cars love ethanol, i will be prob still run a blend with the new turbo.

Concept cars and trade show cars and things are always done in a sort of slap-dash way when they make it through whatever they were built for. Ford doesn't car about this car once it's served it's purpose and like was already suggested they probably cut corners getting it painted that color. It was meant to last just a bit, not be a for-consumer car to last.

How much better is sync 3 over sync 2? I can find good deals on 2015 and earlier ST's, but those models lack CarPlay/android auto.

I don't think you can upgrade the sync 2 software to sync 3, and the head units are insanely integrated and non-standard so they can't be replaced with an aftermarket head unit. The head units are also linked by vin as well I think (that's how it works with the navigation anyway) so I think replacing a sync 2 unit with a sync 3 unit is out too.
