I get the feeling that Dana Carvey has probably killed at least one person and possibly worn their skin.

I've started Wynonna Earp, and so far my only beef with it is about "Wyatt's Gun", which is all wrong for a number of reasons.

I think that long, unsupported barrels look dumb. I can respect the pop-culture origins of the gun, it's just aesthetically displeasing to me.

Show Me a Hero was a bit dry but it was as gently caress watching a guy trying his absolute damnedest to do the right thing and ultimately collapse in on himself. It was also disheartening but not very surprising to learn that the housing case was fought tooth and nail until 2007.

Oh she is? Well that's very neat. Main thing not appealing to me is the subject matter. I have no reason to believe Simon's writing style is specifically suited to this type of show. Obviously planning on giving him the benefit of the doubt though

At this point, unless you are really really interested, I would wait for season 2 of Castlevania to come out before starting to watch. The four episodes is essentially a pilot movie.

I thought Castlevania was pretty fun, but yes it did feel like a pilot series or a prequel series.

Unless he built a time machine or is a Highlander there's no way he has that kind of experience with the 70s porn industry.

There's a bunch of world building, our heroes get together, and then..done. It just feels like it would be better to watch right before the 2nd season starts.

The Waldo Moment was originally written back when Da Ali G show was big and was mostly based on Charlie Brooker thinking that Sacha Baron Cohen and his fake personas were really annoying. Really if you're a fan of Black Mirror it's totally worth reading about the origins of the the scripts from the British series because some of them have roots dating as far back as the 1990s, it makes you appreciate how most of the show's cutting-edge commentary is actually fairly timeless and universal.

The Mist is real bad. Cop tells 17 year old kid he can't have a sip wine, "No underage drinking." "Aw come on," says rape victim's dad. "You of all people should know what that leads to," says the cop. In a mall full of people two people commit suicide. They have dog tags so mall cop decides the military is involved in whatever's going on and announces to everybody, "We need to search everybody for dog tags!" One guy runs for it, he's got tags. I can put all that in spoiler tags, but none of it really matters and it would only be to spare you guys from accidentally reading it.

I love both the original novella and the film adaptation of The Mist but even in those shorter formats the characters all being such broad caricatures was starting to wear thin by the end, I can't imagine how bad it would get if you stretched it out to the length of a season of television.

I actually don't think The Mist is as dumb as Inspector is making it sound but its still too dumb for me to waste energy remembering context and defending it.Guy Mann posted:I love both the original novella and the film adaptation of The Mist but even in those shorter formats the characters all being such broad caricatures was starting to wear thin by the end, I can't imagine how bad it would get if you stretched it out to the length of a season of television. Its like... nothing like either the story or the film. Its actually weird that they kept in the military thing because everything else is so wildly doing its own thing. Like, as far as I can tell its not monsters from another dimension but rather some sort of mother nature backlash with bugs and frogs. And the super religious lady who goes crazy is actually a hippie who is slowly thinking the world is getting angry and she seems right but a priest is being a dick to her because he thinks its the apocalypse and she's a heathen. But then there was some random smoke thing that killed a kid and may have possessed another kid or something. But the military is still involved somehow and they included troops trying to cover up and then killing themselves. And some guy had a moth fly into his ear and then dozens of moths came out of his mouth and a giant moth ripped him apart from the inside or he was turning into a giant moth or something? poo poo's bonkers (but in a boring way) but it bears only a passing resemblance to King's story. So Couch Chat, I'm some sort of weird crazy person who has watched almost nothing but movies for my entire life. I've only seen a small handful of TV shows to completion, and a few episodes or first seasons here and there. And most of what I've watched have been recent. My girlfriend and co-workers have been telling me to catch up on stuff for forever now and I'm just now getting around to doing it. I've seen the following shows in their entirety: Firefly Deadwood Westworld Twin Peaks Fargo True Detective American Gods The Walking Dead Legion And uhh....that's it. I think I have a long way to go. Several Goblins fucked around with this message at 03:27 on Jul 12, 2017 |
