For PilotEdge fans, we just added KAMA, KELP, and KFMN to the Western US Expansion. We also added the ability to just purchase the Western US area independently (same price as ZLA-only). You still get overflight of the ZLA area at 14,000 feet or above, including enroute ATC service too. Send me a PM with your email address if you don't already have a "friends & family" coupon on your account

The displays in the BF109 are entirely readable with a Vive and I play the whole game with the HUD off save for the occasional glance at the map. The few planes I've had time to learn have all had excellent flight models, as well. For a preview of the multiplayer community, Sheriff's Sim Shack has a lot of recent MP videos up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVcN0aa_2sc Man, as soon as I can afford a VR set I am all over this.

TC fuckery should be sorted by Thursday and then I test. I'm so out of vaycay days I may as well just tough it out rather than try to go somewhere else. Also I'm super poor because I can't stop buying poo poo for bikes.

Irl atc dudes are way more chill and funnier than VATSIM controllers at least. Well except for that one group that rented a hotel room got shitfaced and fully toweted some podunk regional that one time we were all still doing sim stuff together.

Oh ya I forgot you were all talking about pilotedge. I should try it sometime but I'm a bit worried I'd be confused by the way you do things in US airspace because I'm from Canada so I'm a bit slow, eh. Edit: that's pretty but man it needs to look way shabbier to be a realistic depiction of a GA plane.

FlyTampa recently changed their logo a little bit. A week ago they announced (along with a few other scenery developers) that they would no longer develop new products for FSX, and that they would instead focus on scenery for Prepar3D v4. This raised a few questions over at Orbx about what their plans are for FSX, and the Orbx CEO said they'll continue to support FSX and that those other scenery developers were "shortsighted and lazy". So now FlyTampa have changed their logo to this:

Is anybody using a bluetooth or wireless controller on iOS to control X-Plane? I have a "Roadshow" where I take Xplane to local high schools and I use my iPhone to airplay to an apple TV. However, I'd feel a lot better instead of handing my iPhone to some random kid if I could hand them a wireless controller. Suggestions?

FSE Question: is it just me or does it seem like if your plane is rentable people end up flying it to strips with no fuel and leaving you with barely any fuel. I think I've had it happen a few times.. are they just idiots or are they being dicks? My Cessna 172 has been left at least twice with the fuel light on and Iv'e needed to jump to an airport with gas.
|
# ? Jul 21, 2017 16:52 |
|
Remember when one of our plans for the goon airstrip in FSE was to basically hijack system owned planes by flying them to the strip with not enough fuel to do anything with them and keeping our fuel supply for private use only so we could gas and go whenever we wanted to? And then one of the mods threatened to shut us down because apparently they feel the need to moderate peoples private group threads? LOL gently caress those nerds.

nope I don't because I didn't participate in the FSE forums so I missed the goon private one I guess

The WWII content is sorta early access at the moment, but if you're looking for a study-level sim of the Spit, that is your best option. Il-2 is a lot of fun too and is a more complete product, though it has no Spitfires and is focused more towards online play.

And also a chimney right in your path? Pff, just don't fly straight at the thing, you silly person. But War Thunder is an amazing, gorgeous, and fun filled game for a WW2 enthusiastic, providing semi-serious flying that's not quite there, but is ways above Ace Combat-style. And it's free. You have no excuses.

cowboy elvis posted:Cliffs of Dover might be the ticket. It's still a mess, though? I just wanna fly against AI. Cliffs of Dover is actually quite good now, with the Team Fusion mod. You can even get the whole mod patched in via steam now. I honestly recommend giving it a try, especially for that time period. The game could barely run on modern PCs when it came out, but as a result it runs well now and had held up better than other games its age. The devs have signed an agreement that gives the source code to the TF team, in recognition of their work (and 777 studios doesn't want to do anything with ClOD). This means that TF can finally stop just making work-arounds and actually fix more of the problems with the base game. They are also going to add a North African campaign in patch 5.0 There is still some jank to the game, but the servers have a dedicated player base (50 a side on peak hours). There are lots of tutorials and action vids on YouTube.
