I finally listened to Scum gently caress Flower Boy, and while the production owns, overall it didn't really land as a cohesive package for me. But man, Boredom is really pretty, I Ain't Got Time! slaps and Who Dat Boy is without question one of the best tracks of 2017. And the flows on November are insane. Basically what I'm saying is a quarter of this album is really loving good. At EP length, this would've been one of my favorite releases of the year.

I kinda liked these days, never listened to the last one. I've been listening to brainiac a lot this weekend. I agree it's good, it lacks some of the depth that power and passion and live forever had even though they're all the same length. I still wish he'd come out with an album (black genius??)

How much control do rappers have when auto-tune is used? What is the creative process with that? Do artists hear the audio in the studio? Is it done in the moment or post production? Nobody ever explained this to me.

Nobody ever explained this to me. I would have to imagine the artist has complete control over the amount of autotune but takes direction from the producer/engineer. It is usually done in the moment so that the artist can hear himself with Autotune in his headphones vs. the raw vocals that could be distracting. Post-recording, they may adjust to taste. At a really basic level, the producer has to ask "Can this rapper hold a note?" If the answer is no, then they ask "Does it matter?"
