The Play listing says it contains ads. How much is the IAP to remove them?

Hangouts on the desktop is, AFAICT with regards to the UI, the best cross-platform SMS (with Google Voice) and IM thingy.

I'd never recommend it to a non-nerd.

Are there any good weather apps? I've had Weather Timeline on my phone for 6 months or so and it is convinced that it is always raining, about to rain, or that the rain will be stopping soon, regardless of the actual conditions (it hasn't rained in several weeks).

Weather Underground can't make a pretty widget to save their life, but it's always been as accurate as weather can be.

Really, really like DarkSky. Seems to be super accurate and the app itself is great.

Darksky and weather timeline use the same data.

Well, that's pretty odd then because DarkSky seems ridiculously accurate to me.

You can change the provider in Weather Timeline from Dark Sky to something else if you're having accuracy problems. A weather app is only good as the data source you have it set to.

Wait, you can send SMS from Hangouts on desktop? Does this require a Google Voice number? Currently I use Pulse for that, which is pretty good although it stopped getting texts so I switched back to Messages on my phone. Pulse still works from my PC so this setup is fine by me.

Can someone explain to me why, no matter what weather app I use, it won't send me push notifications about severe weather warnings until after I've checked the app? Like, if there's a tornado warning, I want to know immediately, not four minutes before expiring because I happened to open the app up. Notifications are on and have priority.

It's probably Samsung's aggressive memory policies kicking out the background process that would service the notification.

Oh god, after about 1000hrs in Pocketcasts I decided to have a look at the alternatives.... And Podcast Addict already does all the things I've been holding out hope for PC adding, while fixing some of the idiosyncrasies that I learned to live with. Wish I'd checked it out ages ago now. Maybe I need to check all these apps I've blindly stuck with year on year.

Does it also have a web app? Lack of that would be a deal breaker for me. Regardless, what cool things does it do that Pocket Casts does not?

They're also missing a ton of podcasts.
