If we're counting those, Sora and Riku had like 13 of them in the Eternal Session limit. Dividing that by half would still be 6.5 blades per guy I guess the real answer is Vanitas, who just rides on a tornado of keyblades in BBS.

eraqus is an extremely close second "xehanort just told me he wants to start a keyblade war just to see what would happen. and then he attacked me. that poo poo's loving crazy. I better.....................do nothing" later: "the unversed are on the loose and I can't contact master xehanort. there's probably no connection though. I better send aqua and terra off and then...........do nothing" Like, he does things later, sort of, but there are critical moments where he should probably do things but (presumably) does nothing.

Yeah I would argue that Eraqus training Terra for years, seeing that he is dumber than a chair, and still entrusting him with the earth shattering power of a key blade is probably the alpha mistake of Kingdom Hearts.

Pretty much none of the bosses in BBS should be a challenge aside from that one, the Final Chapter ones because you fight him again, and the extra stuff. Tbh, that's pretty much all the KH games in a nutshell, where they aren't really supposed to be that difficult till the end if you use the mechanics sorta right. Btw if you want to do the extra BBS bosses, you'll pretty much need to level up or use EXP zero (which scales up your damage), otherwise you will do minimum damage to them for a while.

Yeah, I believe there was a criticism of the games that even in KH2, arguably the best of the lot, there's not much incentive to improve your skills, so to speak. Majority of the bosses you can handle with just attack and healing at far distances. If still too hard, you can grind and power through. The really hard bosses, the ones that require you to shift your playing style are optional.

I don't mind having to dig into a game to find challenge if the base systems are fun. As long as there is sufficient challenge to go around (which KH2 does have, with CoR, Data Org, Hades Paradox cup, Terra, everything on level 1). And while you're fighting his adds you need to be constantly watching out for firecrackers and bowling balls that will kill you instantly. That's why I like playing KH2 on critical mode at the easiest. Every fight becomes one that you need to execute perfectly because as it turns out all that was making them easy was that getting hit normally doesn't do much damage.

Did anyone actually use the D-link stuff much in BBS? I only ever touched it if I needed a free heal and that dropped off once I had Curaga. Didn't help that during the toughest battles in the game it wasn't available. I'm just wondering if I missed out on some useful abilities.

It's fairly useful early on in the game to gain access to abilities you don't otherwise have but once the game opens up a bit at like the half way mark and you start to get a bit cozier with Command Melding, using D-Links becomes not that important for most people. the D-link passives though can be pretty great in of themselves, Mickey's Level 2 is just double XP all the time iirc and that's pretty good if you're a grinding sort.

Yeah, I bought KH2 straight off when it was still in Japanese, and I played several worlds without knowing what abilities are, so I don't equip them at all. I get as far as...Demyx on Radiant Garden, I believe.

Didn't help that during the toughest battles in the game it wasn't available. Everything S&P said, though I wanted to add a little detail cause I always liked using D-Links myself. Every D-Link has either some sort of good passive ability, or some really solid commands to use, except for like Pete's link. Ventus's gives the Haste ability, which is obviously very nice especially for Terra's slow normal attacks. Aqua's has early access to the Mid-level Spells including Magnera and Thundara, useful for pretty much everything early on. Terra/Mickey/Zack give you Auto-Block/Teleport and Attack Deflector abilities, all of which are kinda nice to randomly avoid damage. Snow White/Cinderella have weird names for their commands, but they end up being surprisingly good. Donald/Stitch straight up give you powerful Fire/Thunder commands and are pretty solid on their own. They each also have really solid finishers. Some are more useful than others but they usually are either as good or better than your normal finishers. Most of them take super long to finish, but they have some cool uses. They ultimately still fall out of usefulness near the end though. The harder things get, the more you'd be able to do if you could edit your commands, and once you get halfway into the game you can easily make almost anything you want. You can get by with using some of the better D-Link's till the end of the story, or maybe using EXP 0/finisher invincibility in certain situations, but they generally won't help much in extra stuff I think. When I go through BBS casually, I usually try: D-Link as much as possible up until Radiant Garden, grind for whatever commands/abilities in RG, then sometimes use Donald/Stitch/Peter Pan D-link from there.

If you use the regular cartwheel at max level, aqua is invincible for the full duration of the move. Then just look for safe opportunities and blast him with like, triple blizzaga or something. Or the surges.

Is there an easier way to level up past about level 50 in BBS. It just turns into a massive slog right about there, even with things like mickey's d-link.

Kin posted:Is there an easier way to level up past about level 50 in BBS. It just turns into a massive slog right about there, even with things like mickey's d-link. Short answer, I think no. Or at least, nothing that makes it really simple and fast; it's always gonna be a slog. For every character, get EXP chance ability from command melding, and get the Victory pose command from the Mirage Arena medal shop. EXP chance gives 2x exp when in critical health, and victory pose is a command that gives you triple the exp from the last enemy you killed. For Terra and Ven, I think one of the best places is in Radiant Garden, in the room where you fought the Trinity Armor boss. Use Mega Flares and Victory poses/EXP chance to kill everything fast and get exp. Or at least that's the most common way I've seen people say they grinded. For Aqua, it's tougher, because the battle levels for her worlds don't change in her story. I think the most convenient method is to go to Deep Space, go to the Machinery Bay room, and kill things until you get to the Big Jellyfish unversed. Kill that unversed with Fire/Fira so that it splits up, and do that until you get to the tiny ones. Once you kill a tiny one and get it's exp, use Victory pose to get a lot more. Do this for each of the 8 tiny jellyfish to get a bunch. If you prepare a deck to do this all right, it doesn't take too long to get a bunch compared to other areas. You can also try Neverland for Aqua, using the EXP chance and Victory Pose stuff, though I couldn't get a safe/fast/efficient route since fights are more awkward there, especially with the cannons firing about.

When I first played BBSFM, I tried doing extra stuff around level 35ish with Ven and Terra, 43 for Aqua, and could not make a dent in their HP bars even with all the Fire/Thunder Boosts and strong commands. I just grinded until level 60, and then tried again and was able to do some decent damage. For what I'd say now: just use EXP 0. If you're setup right, It will scale up your commands so you can always make a dent. Leveling up helps the fights go faster and live a tiny bit more, but I never really felt like it was that much a difference in strategy between mid-high levels and level 1 (unless you're Terra, because you have to be a lot more careful with him at level 1).

I did everything with Aqua at barely below 50 and that is absolutely enough levels. KH has a super weird stat formula where you will do minimum damage until you cross the defence threshold and then every point of strength will give massive gains, until you hit the damage cap and get nothing again. And that area in the middle is not very large.
