I was THIRD in line turning left and he pegged me drat near at speed. Luckily I was driving my dad's Ram1500 and basically just monster trucked the poo poo out of his hood. If I was driving my Ranger I'd probably be dead or at least turbo-hosed. If/when I have kids I'm gonna put them in the biggest, slowest hunk of metal I can find.

They really should be designed with that also in mind plus factor of safety (or a generous enough factor of safety to account to that situation) but as usual it's probably made to be cheap and just barely within regulation if that. Really if you're going to fall that kind of distance there's probably nothing better for you to be in than a car. Long as you got your belt on I imagine the crumple zones work more or less the same as they would in an accident. Seems like it'd tend to fall engine first as well since it's so heavy
