in other news looks like this has decloaked: https://dvdhrm.github.io/rethinking-the-dbus-message-bus/ ("Reimplementing dbus-daemon" would be a less inflammatory name)

I'm assuming this is the necessary intermediate step demonstrating that a non-lovely D-Bus daemon still performs worse than Bus1

This seems to be less about performance and more about correctness. As well as being a not-so-stealth takeover of dbus by systemd. One elegant aspect of the design is the way in which it is separated into a heavily isolated broker process and a controller process responsible for bridging it into the rest of the system. The not-so-subtle implication is that the controller process will eventually be systemd.

# ? Aug 23, 2017 17:36 |

why are your description of this so loaded? of course the controller process will be started from systemd(-logind), how else would you start the broker? and it would be a good thing if this became a part of systemd

last i checked he's been using the same 15-year old games for benchmarking purposes forever yep, quake 3 is totally a relevant benchmark for gpus in tyool 2017 lol. look this gpu gets 700 fps but this other one gets 780 fps! phoronix is having no clue what the gently caress you're talking about but sounding very authoritative anyway and also making poo poo up to stir drama: the website (but enough about my posting)

yeah i stopped reading phoronix about three years ago after the site's owner posted an article whose title called the work of somebody far more knowledgeable than him "loving poo poo", in between a bunch of subscription begging e: the forums were some of the absolute worst poo poo, too the site as a whole was like lwn but strictly worse, and i already had an lwn subscription. Read the headlines, follow the links, avoid the editorial. The benchmarks are hilariously unreadable so safe from reading them.
