I just bought the bottom tier of Jumbo Bundle 9 solely for Human Fall Flat 'cause I thought it looked cool and I am not disappointed. It was great fun the whole way through and it's totally charming. It can be frustrating the way troll physics games often are, but each level is wide open for alternate routes and improvisation and once you beat it you're good enough at it to skip through 80% of the early levels like they're nothing, making it pretty replayable and gratifying. Highly recommended.

I've been playing 'RimWorld' lately and drat it's a cool little game that ramps up in complexity quickly. It's been a long time since I played a resource management game and this really is quite charming. http://store.steampowered.com/app/294100

For being in faux-alpha, Rimworld is really good. The caravan mechanics need some fleshing out, but it's basically a feature complete game. I'd recommend it to anyone who wanted to play dwarf fortress but were turned off by the obscene learning curve and calculator graphics.

Something I've wanted but never really tested to see if it already exists anywhere is for a game to check how long its been since I last played. If it comes to a number measured in whole months then it should turn hints back on to remind me what the controls do.

If you're looking at the humble bundle going "Hm, I could sell them for cards and make a profit" - don't. Market crashed hours ago, the cards are already worthless. Useless anime titty cards! Last I heard, the Hunie Devs ended up being awful people as well, which is a shame because people, like this thread, kept talking up HuniePop. That said, you're spoilt for choice on porny games on Steam that have some kind of game plugged into them http://store.steampowered.com/app/483960/Purino_Party/ Purino Party, where all girls are over 18*. We swear. Also the entire gimmick is that the girls are all pure and untouched. I feel dirty just loving typing that out, christ. And if you want actual visual novels with some meat, there's stuff like http://store.steampowered.com/app/269250/ World End Economica.

Didn't the Rimworld dev say the placeholder sexuality system was just that and was based on some light reading of a psychology journal along with some other sources. If I remember correctly he also apologized for it, explained where it was coming from and say he would change it all while retards were screeching at him from all over the web because because something something gender stuff.

Just to drop in on the Borderlands discussion from a few pages agoOhFunny posted:I enjoyed Borderlands 1 more than 2. Since the difficulty ramped up way too much in 2 toward the end. Where in 1 I was slaughtering my through NG+ pretty easily. The thing with going to NG+ in both games is as well as the scaling, it did stuff like this This is from BL2 but as I found out the hard way I had to completely change my loadout and playstyle on the replay in the first game because corrosive went from being really useful to really weak on anything that wasn't armoured. John Murdoch posted:Also you know something has gone wrong when they outright give you a free weapon swap speed bonus as well as a bunch of tweaks to slag on higher difficulties because they want you to be slagging every single enemy forever. Was Sonic hard when I was a babby? Maybe. Were the bosses hard? I don't think so, which is why Mania caught me by surprise. Mania's bosses aren't so hard as much as they are mini-puzzle fights, to be fair, after you "get" what you should do it's pretty straightforward. Also holy poo poo the music is dope. C.M. Kruger posted:Sort by number of owners and it generally correlates to release date on a downward trend. Failing pornographers! Sad! Putting up an anime-style fanservice game on Steam was still a novel thing back in 2014 so just like Huniepop it got a lot of attention, but they could only ride that wave for so long by rapid-firing cheaply made low-quality sequels. Seriously, 6 (7 if you count the clicker) Sakura titles in 2015 alone is kind of nuts. By all accounts the writing's bad enough that even big fans of anime plot-with-porn don't really bother with them anymore. Incidentally Root Double's 50% off for anyone looking for anime plot-without-porn instead.

Borderlands: I had fun playing through it with my friends. When we poked around the endgame we all agreed there was nothing wrong with just using Gibbed's excellent editor to bypass the required 4+ playthroughs and 500 hours of grinding. Borderlands was fun but man, Gearbox does not know how to make an endgame. And even parts of the midgame weren't fun. Also the writing was....sub-par. Pre-Seq wins writing if only because a darker story meant they felt less need to shove in Oh So Wacky. All things considered though, Tales from the Borderlands is the best borderlands game in terms of writing and gameplay.

I loved how much TPS used linear map layouts closer to the feel of traditional FPS levels. It was a breath of fresh air compared to Gearbox's endless, endless re-use of the same basic sprawling outdoor loop with spokes design.

Slapping something together quickly and doing some quick research into it is not mutually exclusive. I'm not saying he's right and it's possible I'm advocating for an utter shithead devil but at the time, his responses seemed rational to me and it didn't seem to me like he was pushing an agenda. I still had people I know who've never even heard of the game slam the dev because an article told them there was in fact an agenda and he hates everything. It just seemed disproportionate
