It's generally agreed upon that Newton and Leibniz discovered calculus independently, and that neither deliberately stole the ideas of the other and passed it on as their own. Not to mention the fact that Newton did a whole bunch of other stuff too (laws of motion, theory of gravity, etc) Edison was all about taking credit for the work of other inventors, especially Tesla. The only thing that set him apart from any other inventor was his knowledge and abuse of the patent system. At least, that's what I've gathered.
