There are one-shots coming out with backstory for each of them. The creation of a Bat-Flash is this one. They're another world's Bruce and Barry. The next issue is for the Bat-Cyborg mashup. The cover features a death tank with Batman's face on the front, Thomas the Tank Engine style, so I'm guessing they're all going to be supremely ridiculous. It's all knowingly over the top. This was one of the gems created by none other than Steve Gerber, who left this world too soon. I'm trying to remember a certain comic that's a tribute to him, but he's actually written as a character hooked up to a tank who's trying to pass on his legacy somehow..

Which in turn reminds me of unrelated, comics themed gone too soon City of Heroes. One of the very rarely showing Z list filler villains was "Bad Penny". Magical bullshit resulted in a life sized copper Abe Lincoln very bitter about his past experiences being trapped in coin jars and no longer being valuable enough to buy a gumball. He then goes into a Batman parody and leaves soon thereafter, but his 12 issues are gold.
