Edit. Doesn't seem to be tied to achievements either for getting the cats or getting all selfies so I guess it's no big deal really. Still annoying to have a quest thread dangling there.

I bet you need to fart rewind one of the branches to get the cat back.

It's what happened to me, and I couldn't find the last cat until I looked at a quest walkthrough.

Clocked the game. Got all achievements bar "Token Experience"

I enjoyed it a lot. Had fun, but I think I preferred Stick of Truth. There just felt like there was "more" to SoT. More varied areas, weirder and wilder dungeons and whatnot.

this was awful, i stopped playing last night because it was such a bad encounter design

otoh i lucked my way through it easily when I came back so I can see how some people think its fine and some people think its awful, if you aren't a speedster and your buddy can't get a couple good dashes out without being chain knocked back you're gonna get owned and thats basically down to where the AI chooses to stand and what moves it chooses to use.
with the realtime turn thing you can only get at best one turn for each character if you're spamming as fast as you can.

theres like 4 or 5 major design issues in just that 2 minute sequence

im generally finding combat to be pretty bad, but I can't remember if SoT's was better. in particular i don't like that melee characters cant attack up and down and despite this there seems to be no delay turn or bonus for ending your turn prematurely, so a lot of the time you just end up wasting turns.

I think if you could always attack up and down it would make the movement part of combat a bit redundant. There's a few vertical moves and some of Jimmy's work on diagonals. I quite like it, makes you think about positioning a bit more.

Beat the stripper easy by timing when you finish your turn so that the enemies are always the ones whose turns are being stolen

Borrowed this from my brother and finished it in a day and a half. Literally end to end, everything except the yaoi collectathon and 100% selfies in 13 hours of play.

Pretty glad I didn't pay full launch price for this because yikes. It's even shallower than SoT.

I've played 13 hours and am not even 1/3 through the main plot, and the systems/combat are a lot less shallow than Stick of Truth.

With the walk/run speed being what it is, and the cutscenes, I don't know how it's even possible to do "everything" in 13 hours unless you rush and never explore? Are you sure you did all the sidequests? Most of them don't appear on your map unless you actually go to a certain place.

Yeah, I consulted a guide after the credits rolled to see if I'd missed a ton of content and the only thing I hadn't done was fight Morgan Freeman, who I then steamrolled.

I genuinely don't know what you've been doing for 13 hours to only be 1/3rd of the way through the plot, I opened every box, bag, drawer and fridge in every house and poo poo in every toilet I could find so I wouldn't say I didn't "explore" enough.

I enjoyed what I played but this should have been a £20 budget digital only release or something because there's not a whole lot of game there for full retail.

Yeah I don't know either. I mean, I do tend to leave games paused while I pack bowls or make coffee but that shouldn't account for such a vast differential.

No.

The greatest moment in my life was realizing that I didn't need a belt to be happy.
I'finished the game in 19.5 hours and didn't waste much time between quests since I was enjoying the story and wanted to see what came next. I have no idea how that dude did everything in 13 hours. It's impressive.

Like every major battle in that game takes about 15 - 20 minutes cause of the cutscenes and humor during the fights and there are tons of them in the game alone.

Finished up the story and I really enjoyed the typical tv episode ending, and then the plot hook mid-credits where Professor Chaos decides to seduce The New Kid into becoming a supervillain - game just got better as it went on, Stick of Truth grabbed me almost immediately but this one had a slower start. It just built up wonderfully as it went along though, and once again it's a joy watching Cartman's hosed up mind develop its plans.

Only a couple of achievements left, the Farts Over Freckles and Token Experience ones. The latter is gonna take a whole game to complete so I'll probably come back to it after I've had time to let the experience settle.

Edit:

CuddlyZombie posted:

I haven't finished the game, but the plot develops to the point that you do fight real, dangerous things/people. You still do it while pretending to be superheroes, though, and somehow when you say you've set them on fire they, I dunno how to put it, "play along"? and do get set on fire. Maybe when you throw a fireball you're REALLY throwing lit candles or something. There's an intentional blurring of lines of what is just playing along with imagination rules and what is real.

Apart from the fact the people in South Park seem to have trouble distinguishing reality from fiction at the best of times, I do like there's a quasi-explanation in there that everybody is completely out of their minds on catpiss spiked drugs/booze and are basically tripping balls most of the time

Thinking about it, there's a good few loose ends the game has that might be DLC. Call Girl makes several comments regarding the crab people about how she doesn't think this shits over and she'll call you. The church has a proper graveyard out back and I even selected vampires as my kryptonite but I still never met any so either that poo poo got cut again or they were tweaking noses. Mysterion never got any real focus which sucks so that's on the wishlist.

Butters is obvious but he's off camera for like half the game and that's unforgivable so loving hurry up with that poo poo. I like they actually gave Butters his status as the New Kids best friend a nod because whenever he's doing one of his rants from the big screen in his dungeon your character has a genuinely dismayed/sad expression. They probably only wanted to play superhero because they thought Butters would be there.

Jerusalem

One neat little thing I really enjoyed is that Cartman demands the New Kid reveal his weakness because you HAVE to have a weakness, or else you're lame.

Later in the game you get access to Cartman's character sheet and his weakness is listed as "None" :allears:

I do dig that Stick of Truth (and this one) have me really eager to keep good friendships with Butters and Scott Malkinson. Even Clyde got to be a good buddy this time around after getting hosed over in Stick.

Craig and Tweak should be everybody's friends by default, of course.

Just completed second night. I'm enjoying it as much as Stick of Truth. Some of the animations gets tedious, like when solving puzzles that require multiple buddies/time farts. Even with the fast travel navigating the map can be a bit of a chore.

I like the combat mechanics, not a deep system but I think the difficulty in the boss battles is pretty well handled. Those real time attacks like Bootay and the lava are a lovely mechanic.

The writing is a little uneven like the show, some of the humour is really lazy. So it's successful at being like an interactive episode.

Finished the game a few days ago. My playtime from start to finish was something like 14 hours and the only thing I didn't complete was the yaoi collection. Overall I found the game to be fun but some of it should have been streamlined more.

The humor wasn't as good as SoT but that's subjective and I can live with it being what it was. Combat difficulty was all over the place, I'm too lazy to use spoiler tags so I won't go into detail but it seemed like sometimes the game didn't really know what it was supposed to be doing. Certain midgame fights that almost demanded a specific party comp combined with a few fights that just seemed oddly overtuned even if you used time warps to ignore their gimmicks made the game feel like a roller coaster of difficulty. What was really unforgivable for me was the completely unskippable cutscenes for the teamups/overworld time manipulation.

I don't mind that the game was only 14 hours. I do mind that at least one of those 14 hours was spent watching the same 6 cutscenes.
