The most common complaint I hear from people at my work when I put hockey on is it's hard to follow. The glo-puck helped with that, but I know the purists hated it so much. Didn't realize that the 1st down line in football was a descendant of it though. That makes the game so much easier to follow these days.

Yeah the Fox glow puck and the XFL of all things both went a long way to kick off a lot of the standard things we see in sports broadcasts these days. It's neat to look back on.

Make the puck get brighter and brighter, only resetting on a goal. That will increase scoring because players will put extra effort into goals to avoid permanent eye damage, and also push those that still don't use a visor into adding one.
