ProfessorCirno posted:Is gettin' mad at furries even still a thing? I feel like that largely faded away once Bronies happened, and nowadays we're up to our chins with nazis. Someone wants to gently caress Tony the Tiger, man, whatever, at least you aren't advocating genocide. You'd be surprised. A bunch of furries made an art rush in Splatoon 2's art posts a few months back (full-blown "I AM A FURRY, HERE IS MY TWITTER/DEVIANTART USERNAME" ones. Which isn't great in a game where a lot of the players are young children), to the annoyance of everyone. Thankfully they seem to have gotten the message, because the recent Splatfest topic for Halloween was Vampires vs Werewolves and there was almost zero furry artposts on the Werewolf side.

RareAcumen posted:Was Dust an Elysian tail full of that in any way? All I remember was it ostensibly not being 100% finsihed when it was released and people screaming DEVIANTART at how it looked. Dust was more filled with exactly the sort of story/voice acting you'd get in a more serious cartoon for like early teens in the mid-90s. Albeit with more time spent on the art. Or maybe like, an animated movie of the same time period that wasn't from Disney but was almost up to Disney standards but aimed to be a bit more edgy by dropping in more jokes for the parents in the audience. It's like really fun to play and the voice acting/story is only a little bit infuriating, and you can just mash through 99% of it. fishmech fucked around with this message at 16:11 on Oct 31, 2017 |

Question: Has anyone here ever tried the Plus Patch for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodline? I started playing the game a year ago, and finally got around to playing it again for Halloween. I iinstalled the Basic Patch (v8.8, I believe), but I was curious what was different about the Plus Patch. So far, the game's okay, but there's parts of it that feel really rough and I was curious if the Plus patch improved things. I remember there was some drama about it, but I don't remember what it was about. Sorry if this doesn't really constitute as mod talk; I thought maybe since the Plus patch added content and changed things up, it was okay. I meant to ask over in the VtM:B thread, but it's fallen into the archives.

All I know is that I have played several different updates of the patch and the location of certain items keeps changing for either balance or "common sense" reasons.

Max Wilco posted:Question: Has anyone here ever tried the Plus Patch for Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodline? Plus patch is fine, it's the other one to watch out for, except it doesn't really exist anymore. The mod drama was that Wesp (the maker of the Basic/Plus Patch) was, well, doing his thing. His thing is being incredibly obsessed with Bloodlines and then modding it. He started with the "Unofficial Patch" but, as time went on, he just kept...adding poo poo. Or moving poo poo. Almost for no real understood reason; I mean, he HAS reasons, but I do not know them, and it's all real minor stuff. Another person, Tessera, started making his OWN patch that was intended to be "actually true to the game," or whatever. I don't know how accurate that is, because I never tried Tessera's patch. Why? Well...what muddies all of this is the fact that Tessera is actually insane. Wesp is insane, but in an obsessive kinda way. Tessera though? If you thought you recognized that name from bizarre crazy drama elsewhere, you probably did! Tessera hates that a patch other then his existed, and proclaimed a real weird and dumb war against Wesp, sniping nonstop at every forums they could find that discussed the game, and even adding bizarre poo poo to their own patch that you'd never even see without interacting with the files, like renaming the toilet textures to Wesp's name or some poo poo like that. On top of that, Tessera has yet to meet a problem that he didn't try to solve with sockpuppets, and boy howdy did he go buck wild there, making a constant churn of new accounts wherever just to agree with himself. Adding yet even more fuel to this, it was very quickly discovered that large portions of Tessera's patch was made up of literally just Wesp's patch. All of this ended up out in the open, of course, because this is the internet, and you can probably guess which of the two was seen poorly by the community. In the end, Tessera had a meltdown, and Wesp split his patch into "Basic" and "Plus" to respond to the criticisms that his was just adding too much poo poo. This was like five years ago, and I have no idea what Tessera is up to these days, and I'm pretty sure Wesp continues to all but completely reprogram Bloodlines. Use the Basic patch if you're new to the game; use Plus if you wanna replay it with some new poo poo. EDIT: What made this drama so hilarious was how one-sided it was, incidentally. It was Wesp continuing with his own obsession and trying to (mostly) ignore poo poo, while Tessera, her army of alternate accounts, and whatever fans he actually had, constantly trying to poo poo on his patch, and only making their own look worse and worse because of it.

Yeah, it’s the same person. She used to run a modding website that was stacked to the brim with nude mods and barely-there chain mail bikini reskins. She seemed to seriously believe that for a game to be “Mature” it should be packed with tits. Just boobs everywhere. This fed back hilariously to her WoW drama days as she once had a huge tantrum over Mages being too “Glass” and not enough “Cannon,” except it turned out she was both awful at the game and insisted on wearing the Black Mageweave set, which was basically low level underwear.

Tessmage's neverending usage of puppetsocks was also a big part of their failed attempt at creating their "Mage Union," and likewise their entire thing crumpled immediately once one of the Blizzard employees on the WoW forums got tired of his poo poo and pointed out that the vast majority of "Mage Union" supporters all came from the same account.

I didn't remember Tessera, but I did remember someone saying that Wesp was pretty obsessive over the patching in Bloodlines . Like I said, I am using the Basic patch for my first playthrough. I was just curious about what the Plus patch added. The Basic patch seems to make the game work fine for the most part, but some of the design choices in the vanilla (mostly the skill requirements and scarcity of items) made me wonder if the Plus patch improved on it. Does anyone have a history of the Jedi Outcast/Academy mod "Knights of the Force" at hand? I only have some disjointed memories of stolen content, scammed money, and packaged viruses. A quick google shows me that the mod was banned from Moddb in 2008, yet in 2016 a new version was released there. And apparently Version 1.0 was released in 2002? So the whole saga has been going for even longer than I remembered!
