Hmm, what have we here?
I’m hearing a rattle on the highway in my S550 under the passenger floor.

-Only at highway speeds
-Revving/neutral/coasting doesn’t change it
-Comes and goes as the wind blows across my car
-Happens on smooth road
-Kind of like a tin can sound?

Does this exhaust have some kind of heat shielding that could be blowing around? It sounds 100% aerodynamic and not so much power plant, but I’m no expert.

Sounds like heat shielding. Poke at it with a stick until you find the offending part.

Mine went on Sunday. Enjoying the fact I can now break traction in 3rd in a straight line.

edit: Here's a dirty butt shot to show the stance on the stock rims, I put 8mm spacers in so that they don't look super tucked and tiny. Decent improvement from something so minor.

Any early Fox body guys out there? Helping the old man find a rebuild kit for his carb (accelerator pump diaphragm seems shot), and we're just trying to confirm we got the right carb before ordering a kit, as we need to order from the US, much easier than finding anything locally.

This look like the stock 2bbl carb for a 1979 Fox with a 5.0?

And if it is, this seems to be the kit I need?

Looks like a Holley 2300 or similar (basically half a 4-barrel). Any Holley accelerator pump should work, and yeah that power valve should fit everything too. I'm less sure about the needle and seat, but they look right.

I'm surprised you've got nothing locally, because pretty much any Holley should use those parts, so I'd expect them to be available everywhere.

Disclaimer: I don't know Mustangs too well, so I'm far from an expert on this subject. I just know my 1960 F100 shares carburetor parts with my 2016 BG Speed Demon.

OK, thanks a lot, that gives me more leads.

Holley stuff I can find for sure, although it still means finding a specialist parts outfit, none of our chain auto stores usually stock anything like that. Also markup can be huge, for small things like this I can buy it in the US (from Amazon even) and ship it down to NZ and still be half the price local outfits are gunna charge me.

Yeah those parts should fit a Holley 2300, 4150, 4160, probably also the single-barrels too. If it's just a torn diaphragm, you can probably save some money over buying a whole kit. Especially because you don't need to take anything else apart to change it. But if you're eating international shipping anyway, an extra few bucks for a full kit with gaskets might make more sense; you'll have spares for next time.

Raluek

I did some research, and it looks like it's actually a Motorcraft/Autolite 2150. Very similar to the Holley, and probably has some parts interchange, but not nearly as Lego as I was saying earlier. I'm not confident enough that they're the same to have you order some stuff across the globe, so I guess it's best to get a kit that says it's right. I think this is the appropriate one: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/smp-1430/

That sure does look like a Holley accelerator pump and power valve, though. :shobon:

So I had my Mustang shipped to Italy by the Army, and it's been a blast to drive here. The roads are narrow, and finding parking is often outrageously hard, but on the other hand, driving on the curvy roads is a sheer pleasure.

I love this picture. It's like a caricature of Europe versus America. Taken downtown Vicenza, Italy.

I went on work travel to Florida in late October, figured I'd put winter wheels on before I left because it'd be cold in late November when I got back and I wouldn't want to be changing wheels when it's freezing out.

50 degrees out today. Might have jumped the gun a little on those wheels.

Do you have lights in your rear bumper underneath the mustang lettering? Also what do you have for fogs? It almost looks like one of those aftermarket accent strips, or its just the angle of the picture.

I felt pretty cool driving my mustang around in Canada until I ended up seeing like 3 of them. I guess its a lot easier to import them there than it is Italy. :v:

edit: Nevermind. Always check thread history.

It's a Premium Convertible 5-speed manual V8.

So, I wanted daytime running lights to get some of teh sweet sweet insurance discount in addition to baller looks and mad pussy.
I wanted to have lights that'd turn on when I turn the key. I bought some white LED panels for 8 bucks total, plus red panels for 10 bucks total. Not a bad price. Plus a custom HALO headlight setup, along with corner LED's. As you know, the SN95 body has yellow running lights on dim, and blinkers are brighter. Well I hate amber steady burn, so I got a dual-diode LED's, that burn white and blink yellow.

At the turn of the key the halos, the tripled corner LED's, lower taillights and lower fog lights turn on. There is no way to turn them off. Headlight switch brings on the low beam and the bigger corner LEDs.

I'm pretty happy with the look. Especially I like the way I installed the rear LED's. They look like they belong there from the get-go. I didn't even have a soldering iron, so with literally everything from LED's to tools to wiring to shrink wrap and add-a-fuse connections, I ended up paying at total amount of 114.50 dollars. That includes completely new headlight housings and bulbs, too. My monthly discount ended up being a bit over 12 dollars, so I'm extremely satisfied with the result in both looks and finance.
Timewise it took like six hours, but I ran wiring at the same time that we were changing top cylinders with my brother in law, so it is less than that. It's a single fuse that I named "DRL" that comes from fusebox at 15a, runs into the front in a sturdy thermostat wire, hits a junction where all individual lights get their own detachable plugs for changing, and a another thermostat wire that goes to the trunk, all under the furniture and behind panels, to get power for the tail LED's.

Next up is coming up a solution to get amber turn signals in the back. My plan is to give the pony to my mom as a gift, and she lives in Finland. EU won't even consider a car for registration withot 360 degree amber turn signals, among other poo poo.

Did some other modifications, too. Rear passengers are suspectible to severe whiplash. But no more! Stock Volkswagen guide brackets, plus leather headrests from a 2000 VW Beetle. Voila! They swivel back and forth, go up and down and the top travels freely.
Cost: 50 bucks total. Work time: 1 man hour with two dudes.

A regular cab, short bed, two wheel drive F150 with the 3.5 ecoboost weighs 4050lbs and has 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft. That's not far off a 2003 Cobra in an F150. What a time to be alive.
