Turns out gerrymanders can get completely face-hosed in wave elections. Let's hope for more of that so we can break this loving death cult and get back to a functional government.

That's the thing about gerrymandering, it is somewhat of a gamble. You gain seats at the expense of margins in safer seats. But math is math, and a large swing against you in overall margins can lead to an outsize number of seat losses because those safe seats were carved up.

Yeah gerrymandering is kind of a big bet on stable voting preference at large. If you spread the turds real thin so that there's 20 seats you're holding by 5 or less, then a 6, 7 point wave just flips them all at once and you are eating curb for dinner.

And climbing. Keep an eye here: https://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/virginia-governor-election-gillespie-northam#eln-forecast-section

We're rapidly approaching the point of a polling miss, when the polling average was Northam by +3. Not quite there, but close.

Of course being New Jersey, he'll still be insanely corrupt and run a 50/50 chance of getting indicted in a decade or two.

I think Christie set the bar so low that they might be fine with some light corruption

Don't forget the POS running for Virginia school board who publicly outed what he thought was a trans student in one of his campaign videos, only for the student to openly deny that he is trans.

Of course the guy works for Liberty University

When hasn't it been.

Granted I lived in Newark briefly and so I was always amazed that both former Mayors and even candidates for Mayor would get indicted. I think Booker has the longest record so far of not being indicted.

Still I can't wait for the magical poo poo storm with the Philly FOP and the new DA, among many others.

Trenton's previous mayor was found guilty of corruption a few years ago and is now in federal prison. He was paying family members to do essentially nothing, and other stuff.

Yep iirc Trenton, Camden, and Newark are the Holy Trinity of Corrupt Shitholes in New Jersey (with an option to swap in and out Atlantic City when needed).

President Donald Trump called 12 Senate Democrats Tuesday, hoping to sway them in favor of the Republican tax cut bill, and told them he would personally "get killed" financially by the GOP bill. He said he would only benefit if it repealed the estate tax, according to multiple people who were present.

"My accountant called me and said 'you're going to get killed in this bill,'" the president said during a phone call from his trip in South Korea.

It's also transparently false. He's already way out of the income range where all of the deductions the Republicans are eliminating would have an impact on his taxable income, and the proposal significantly reduces taxes on corporate income.

I starting to think that rich people have such hubris they don't understand that saving the vague plural 'them' millions is just as insulting to us, because they think that since They Personally are dead they haven't saved anything by the tax repeal in fact.
