Wait is there really not just a 4 conductor y connector that passes through correctly to use the 4 conductor MBP 3.5mm jack? I'm actually really surprised I'm not just being dense about this somehow.

Hey guys, Narrowed down my choice between three earphones that fit within budget. Noise cancelling won't do a heck of a lot for voices, but it will be great for stuff like machinery, A/C, computers etc. Noise isolation will cut out a big chunk of everything, but generally requires very deep sealing in the ear canal and some people find that uncomfortable. I suppose noise isolation. She's in an open seating office environment, so is basically wanting to drown out as much as possible. Someone she worked with had the BOSE headphones and let her try them. She like them so she threw them on her list. I'm hoping to get her something with as good or better quality for less money, haha.

I'm looking to upgrade my current headset to something with a wireless capability, since I've tripped on my current one's wire and knocked it on the floor way too many times. That being said, I would like to have something that also has the possibility of being used in a wired mode, since I want to be able to use them while charging, or as a fallback in case of Bluetooth interference. I plan to use these as multipurpose everyday PC headphones, so I'm hoping to get something that also includes a mic. Budget: Up to $150 Source: A Windows laptop Isolation Requirements: None, I'm using these in a quiet room Preferred Type of Headphone: Over-ear. Prefer supra-aural, but could also go with circumaural Preferred Tonal Balance: Balanced, but I don't know enough about headphones to have a preference Past Headphones: I've used these for the last year: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000UXZQ42/. I like how lightweight, comfortable, and cheap they are, but I suspect I'm missing out on audio quality, and the wire gets in the way a lot. Preferred Music: Indie pop/rock and electronic, but I'm also planning to use these for pretty much everything (videos, gaming, podcasts, etc) I was looking at https://www.amazon.com/CORSAIR-VOID-Wireless-Gaming-Headset/dp/B0748N6796/, but it apparently doesn't work in a wired mode, and I'm sure there's probably better stuff out there. Awesome, thanks! One thing though, when I was looking that up, there seems to be disagreement on whether you can use it wired or not. Some guy claims they can be used wired (https://www.reddit.com/r/steelseries/comments/66f527/arctis_7_microphone_wired_connection_on_pc/dgkgwcn/), but someone else claims they can't (https://www.reddit.com/r/steelseries/comments/66f527/arctis_7_microphone_wired_connection_on_pc/dgkuis9/) Do you already have your pair to confirm which one is correct? edit: oh wait, duh, I missed the part of the description that mentions a 3.5mm cable Dad Jokes fucked around with this message at 07:13 on Nov 15, 2017 |

I love the Bose Stayhear ear things, and don't like the feeling of running with a headset in my ear. The jarring of my steps is just uncomfortable, and the Bose fit avoids this problem. That said, I'm interested to try a new sound now that my microphone doesn't work. Does anyone have any experience with the Vmoda Activeflex ear things? Are they comprable in comfort/fit to Bose? Not exhaustive but a good reference https://www.innerfidelity.com/headphone-measurements Also noting the recent talk about a bassy IEM, this one isn't bad http://www.fiio.net/en/products/74#F9 Yes it has 2 balanced armatures and a dynamic subwoofer per earphone. It's also very reasonably priced. Stock cable is microphonic but it's MMCX so knock yourself out with an alternative replacement if you care enough. It's about $140 AUD and I have no idea what it costs in the US because I can't be bothered to check. But it would be less than that. Their sister phones the 668s are normally a better choice and are fantastic for the price. Still a little heavy on the highs but fantastic soundstage. I have them and while they don't quite match my hm5s for sound quality they are much better for PC gaming as the sound stage makes first person shooters more immersive.

I'm tired of having to replace beater IEMs every 6 months, I'm willing to shell out for something a little more durable. My issue seems to be the connection between the actual IEM and the cable right at the ear, so I was thinking something like a SE215 or a similar IEM with detachable cables would help remedy that issue. Budget - <$100 Source - Zune HD or laptop/computer Preferred Type of Headphone - IEM Past Headphones - I had Brainwavz Delta, AKG Y20U, and some others in the past as my beaters. Brainwavz died on me a while ago, the AKG is still working now but the cable is really worn out (rubber worn through at the earpiece). I also have an RE400 but those things are so fragile I just leave them plugged into my computer instead.

I picked up the Philips SHP9500S from Newegg on sale and they're pretty decent, they are very very comfortable on the head and don't have a huge obvious bias one way or the other compared to the IIRC similarly priced (+- $10) Sony whatevers I had been using on my computer previously. How loud are open-back headphones? Is it still much quieter than speakers, or significantly muffled, or might I just as well be blaring sound from my head for everyone around me to hear clear as day? I'm wondering about getting Philips SHP9500S vs HyperX Cloud II (although if there's better alternatives I'm all ears). I don't really need the mic and the Philips apparently have better audio quality, but I don't really want everyone around me to hear everything I'm listening to.

Someone sitting next to you (within 6 feet) is probably going to be able to hear exactly what song it is. Within 3 feet, they're definitely going to hear you. A lot of what you're asking is very circumstantial though... I mean when the AC in my office comes on, I could crank the gently caress out of my desktop speakers and nobody could tell you what i'm listening to. When the A/C is off, if you're next to me then you can hear exactly what is in my headphones at any volume. But here's a retarded answer to your question. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReyKQeDMnuQ Edit: this also depends on how loud your computer or headphone amp or whatever you're using can drive your headphones, how loud you like to listen, etc... Open backed headphones don't put out any less sound to the surrounding areas when you put them on your head. GnarlyCharlie4u fucked around with this message at 22:54 on Nov 22, 2017 |
