These LBWs seem a lot less out than the ones that DRS didn't give last match

That was such a modern day Australian dismissal

Paine is trying to run the whole tail out I think.

Humiliating collapse. Two Bad Teams.

DRS has been a bit weird this series. I am happy to believe that the boffins know whats going on but that Paine LBW looked better than Smiths and Marsh imo. So maybe I am just the idiot

DRS can be dodgy tbh it's like hotspot when clear edges don't show up or duckworth lewis when calculations are obviously not suited to modern day cricket, the people who run it say that it's absolutely fine because they're getting coin from it and why would they come out and say that it's flawed

Snicko / RTS / Ultra Edge / Ooooltraedgetoconfirm is the worst part of DRS. When the base line is perfectly still I guess it's helpful, but more than half the time the line is already squiggly and then it picks up a bunch of artifacts and is just a huge mess.

Without hotspot and snicko we wouldn't have the TV umpire awkwardly saying 'can you rock and roll that' which is the best thing about it

Its now called the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method and the underlying "resource" tables are updated after pretty every major international event The only place it still probably places too much emphasis on the value of wickets in hand is T20, maybe. (I don't disagree at all with your underlying point).

England bowling 24 overs in that session is a touch cynical

There's something about the speed with which Dar tries to get through referrals that always worries me, he just seems like he's always in a rush

Every time I check the scores in this match it gets funnier. Now back to bourbon St so I'm properly ready for England's innings

Why the gently caress are Australia still batting? They need 10 wickets not more runs.

I think the declaration was about right. We will find out in a day and 2 sessions of course but it feels right. The pitch is still very, very flat but its cracking fast. I wouldn't want to chase much at all with the accuracy Anderson has found today at hitting the crack.

Obviously he min/maxed and put all his points into batting and fielding and treated captaincy and reviewing as dump stats.

Probably the pitch is flat and there is a fair bit of bad weather about but also they have a pretty terrible tail so you never know Also Boycott was a great batsman.
