another thing i noticed: all of the characters with orange gis (krillin, yamcha, goku) have very slight different colors of orange. presumably this will help out with telling the difference between them in a match

I'm more annoyed that 18 is a fighter, but not 17. If you actually track the series, 17 does way more fighting than 18 all the way into Super. Plus he's just a more interesting character.

once the cell arc is over 18 actually sticks around the protagonist gang instead of loving off into the woods for a decade, she deserves the slot more

Android 17's only real meaningful fight is vs Piccolo and then he vanishes offscreen until Super, whereas Android 18 is a regular presence. She is easily the better choice. Super makes a strong case for 17 being his own character but eh, 18 + 17 is more distinctive anyway.
