No see the oblivion gates were completely lore friendly and the only reason bethesda didn't put them in themselves is because they didn't have the capabilities to do it. Luckily for them some 2 bit modder did have the capabilities!

Some part of me wants to try that Modpack despite having cringy mods like KS Hairdos and Bijin. But it takes forever to download. Which means it is definitely not recommended for downloading textures. It is great though if you want to prank your friends that are less savy with mods and put in features that would take hours for them to notice. I would probably be able to slip in "Project P.E.W" and "Really useful dragons" without them suspecting anything. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U48uDLQ2_fs

It's a buggy piece of poo poo in oldrim though

Ok. I tried out ModDrop. Pretty slow client and I hate how the pack system does not allow you to pick and choose. Its main purpose is to allow someone else to easily follow your setup from start to end. You will probably have to have workarounds to use SKSE, Tes5edit, WB, ModWatch etc. Little customization in form of mod order (not to be confused with load order). Pretty fun to test out SSE, which I had not really tried out with mods until now. I think Open cities will be a permanent part of my load order once I jump ship. I think that ModDrop is best used to try and let your friends have fun with about 30-60 mods and don't use it to download texture packs as that takes a long rear end time to download. Apparently, you cant install files over 2GB which means I could not get the Legacy of the Dragonborn patches up, which I wanted to do. Also, I got issues when making my own modpack, saying that I was missing two files although I am pretty sure I had no masters missing, ModDrop does not tell me which mods there are issues with. Overall not worth it if you know your way around MO or NMM, but I will probably share some light and fun modlists with friends. Considering that I regularly endorse mods and donate I don't feel too bad for robbing some authors of 1 download.

ModDrop sounds like it's trying to be Technic for Skyrim. (Also apparently a bunch of other games, including Minecraft, as if we didn't already have enough different ways to install modpacks in Minecraft.)

m2pt5 posted:ModDrop sounds like it's trying to be Technic for Skyrim. (Also apparently a bunch of other games, including Minecraft, as if we didn't already have enough different ways to install modpacks in Minecraft.) I can see it being a decent platform for games that aren't Bethesda or that don't have Steam workshop or other mod manager integration, but holy hell if there's anything I've learned from the past decade or longer of modding Bethesda titles is that the tools the community has made to handle mods exist for a reason. You don't trust most mod authors without checking under the hood a bit to make sure the engine runs, and you definitely don't trust some guy on ModBox with a 150 mod combo pack to not be putting out a janky, incompatible mess. Even then, assuming everything is working correctly, you will probably get stuck with one or all of hosed up performance, hosed up settings, or the inclusion of mods that you don't like. ENB presets are a good example. I think that the majority of them look terrible, and the ones I do like enough to download usually come with like 5 different preset combinations because it's not possible to make a single preset that would run well and look good on every GPU, RAM and monitor configuration. If you're downloading a Skyrim mega pack and get an ENB that's configured for a system with twice the GPU power and half of your ram, and calibrated for a monitor with a different brightness and warmer color balance than yours, it sounds like you would be SOL and just unable to use that pack.

However, the game would be made to crash during loading whatever world you'd selected, because that's when mods are initialized, so it had a pretty high chance of immediately and irreversibly corrupting your save.
