The JSA was up for pre-order when i bought it and got the notification a couple hours later that it was ready. That’s impressive being heavily discounted before purchase.

Maybe I'm missing it on Comixology's site, but when does the sale end?

Marvel sale ends Jan 2nd.
DC sale ends Jan 4th.

Buy Jonathan Hickman's Avengers and New Avengers to lead up to Infinity and again up to Secret Wars.
https://www.comixology.com/Avengers-2012-2015/comics-series/9007
https://www.comixology.com/New-Avengers-2013-2015/comics-series/9381
then, in the storyline leading up to Secret Wars the two are bundled in these trades.
https://www.comixology.com/Avengers-Time-Runs-Out/comics-series/36143
Note, you don't need the 'infinity' volumes of either series since those issues are included in the 'Infinity' event collection.

Get Jason Aaron's 'Thor: God of Thunder' and 'Thor' to lead up to 'Mighty Thor'
https://www.comixology.com/Thor-God-of-Thunder/comics-series/9009
https://www.comixology.com/Thor-2014-2015/comics-series/26736
Especially 'Thor' since that's where it starts to star female Thor, but there are plots that run right through.

Forget Rebirth Justice League. It only stopped being a flaming wreck in the last two issues with a creator change. You don't need it to get into DC. The current 'Superman' is the best. Get that instead.

Some of my own questions for the sale:

Is there anything else by Vertigo that's just weird one-off stuff like We3?

Original Black Lightning series worth checking out?

Greg Pak's Action Comics any good?

I would appreciate Marvel recs in general. I have read a large chunk of Claremont X-Men, Simonson Thor, most of Jason Aaron Thor, a lot of the 00s cosmic Marvel, Runaways, and Planet Hulk through to Incredible Hercules of Pak's Hulk. I think I'm mostly interested in: Journey into Mystery by Gillen, Daredevil by Bendis, All-New X-Factor, Busiek Avengers, Cable & Deadpool, and Worst X-Man Ever.

I'm trying to find if Peter David Hulk and the 80s Moon Knight series are on there but I can't seem to find them.

A good run of Aquaman other than Peter David would also be appreciated.

Same with Batman stuff that's not by Morrison, Frank Miller, or Scott Snyder.

Other characters and teams I'd like to read more about: Shazam, Birds of Prey, Deadman, I, Vampire, Suicide Squad, Firestorm, Jonah Hex, JSA

Teenage Fansub

It kinda farted out at the end, but I love Pak's Action. The first trade's worth is probably in my N52 top 5.

A lot of Grant Morrison's Vertigo works are short miniseries, fitting in one trade like We3. Flex Mentallo, Joe the Barbarian, Kid Eternity, Seaguy, Sebastian O, Vimanarama+Kill Your Boyfriend (trade comes with both)
Neil Gaiman's Black Orchid is another short one.

JiM is a must. It doesn't sound like you like dark comics, but Rick Remender's Uncanny X-Force is one of my favourite things.

Batman and Robin by Tomasi and Gleason was wonderful. They just put out an omnibus, which tells you a lot about the quality of a b-tier N52 comic.

'Shazam!: A Celebration of 75 Years' is a great sampler. The Convergence: Shazam two shot was wonderful with Doc Shaner art. That'll be in one of the tie-in trades. Multiversity is worth it just for it's Shazam issue too.

The New 52 I Vampire series was great, and so is Ostrander's Suicide Squad.

Bendis' Daredevil is brilliant. Maybe the best run ever, and I include Miller in there. Brubaker's Daredevil is great too, but it follows directly from Bendis' run.

Seconding Ostrander's Suicide Squad. One of my favorite runs of all time, and it's finally getting collected in TPBs.

If you want good Batman, get Batman: Ego and Other Tails by Darwyn Cooke. It's outstanding. I also really love Batman/Grendel by Matt Wagner -- get the TPB which collects both miniseries from the '90s.

Geoff Johns is controversial around here, but the first several years of his JSA series were great, classic superhero adventures with a mix of old and new characters. His Flash ('90s run) and Booster Gold (the series that came out after 52) round out my favorites of his work.

I don't know if "All-New" X-Factor is the series I'm thinking of, but Peter David's mid-'00s X-Factor series that kicked off with the Madrox: Multiple Choice miniseries was excellent for the first few years. Volumes 1-5 of the TPBs are classic (plus the Madrox mini, which was collected separately and then re-released as X-Factor Volume 0), but I feel like the quality took a hit after that, when it tied into Secret Invasion.

All-New X-Factor is the 2014-2015 series, which I haven't read but I'm assuming is decent. You're most likely thinking of the 2005-2013 series, the detective agency one, since Secret Invasion is from 2008-2009.

I highly recommend people pick up Multiversity if you're interested in it. I picked it up on sale earlier this year and it was a pretty good read.

I have a shopping cart of 70 items right now which I'll prune tonight...

I usually go for the following when it comes to big sales:
- obscure/lesser-known titles
- books that don't go on sale often (i.e. not something like Dark Knight Returns)
- runs I need to finish or have missed
- must-get stuff (that will go on sale frequently anyway)

In that order, yet I still spend a fuckton rip

Depends on what you think is necessary.
You could just jump in, but you might be someone who needs to meet Sinestro first (the story starts with him in jail (I think? It's been a while.) And then his Corps has a bunch of DC deep dive surprise villains, so you'd be off reading multiple Crisis events to see who they are (or just put their names into a DC Wikia.)

It takes place some time into the two series it's crossing over, mid-2000's Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps. They're both worth reading at the sale price, but I dunno if you'll need 'em.

My buys:

Wonder Woman: The Golden Age vol. 1
Batman: The Golden Age vol. 1
Superman: The Golden Age vol. 3

Batman/TMNT vol. 1
Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures vol. 1
Justice League/Power Rangers

Superman: American Alien
DC Universe by John Byrne

New 52 Action Comics vol. 1-3, 5-7

Spider-Man/Deadpool Vol. 2: Side Pieces

As a majorly casual fan who really enjoys the idea of Superman as a force for social justice who beats up domestic abusers and munitions dealers and then dismantles the KKK, what I've read about those parts of the New 52 series sound really interesting to me. I'd considered getting caught up on the Rebirth Superman book instead but "haha, wow, we really hosed up in making that kind of Superman you found interesting, huh? Well don't worry, he's dead now, and it turns out the other guy actually survived our last few reboots after all!" had me kinda like

I really like Jonathan Hickman's Avengers/New Avengers run from a few years ago. Might want to look up a reading order, though, because you have to hop between the two books in a pretty specific order. It's kinda lengthy, so that will keep you busy for a while.
