CassandraSupreme posted:Isn't there, like, a big story in Christianity where you are supposed to be a shiftless gently caress? Like, it doesn't matter if you just show up to work for the last twenty minutes and get paid a full day because it doesn't actually matter what you "do" it's all about some nebulous (and loving vile) "belief" and "faith"? No, in the parable, the workers have been waiting in the sun all day to be hired, but they've not had any luck (remember then in those days, if you didn't get hired, you don't get paid, you don't eat). They're willing to work, but haven't had any luck. The owner agreed to pay a silver coin for a days work, he felt bad for those to had been willing to work, but weren't lucky enough to get hired. To stand in the market in the boiling sun all day knowing you won't get any money doesn't sound fun. He promises everyone the same wage, even those who were hired last. The owner is a metaphor for God and how everyone is equal in Heaven. It's not saying 'slack off', it's saying that the owner was generous enough to take pity on the people who had been left out, responding to how Jesus was criticised for ministering to Gentiles, outcasts and other people not seen as 'respectable' by Jewish society then.

I mean, you can squint at the room one because of those gigantic square plantation houses but the other one seems a bit too far like illuminati symbols etched into all our glass but you can't tell that it's there.

It's probably not true (Dictionary.com says use of the term started around 1930) but honestly considering we get "landlord" from medieval serfdom I don't think it's that much of a stretch.

Yeah, a lot of things like this come from common origins but don't actually have the same shared meaning. Master = primary male = master of the house = the master's bedroom, which is also the same person who generally would have been at the head of a slave plantation or whatever, but it's congregate and correlate, not causatory.

Lottery of Babylon posted:So, there was a question somewhere on facebook, what does 10-10x10+10 make? I thought, ''easy, first the multiplication, then everything else''. So, in my head, it was 10-100+10 > +-10=0 thus 100 was the correct answer. Then i encountered a huge shitstorm of replies that the answer was -80, FOR... 10-100 made -90... I then remembered an imaginary division of mathematics - the negative numbers and realized what was the deal - the deal was that subconsciously i did not accept negative numbers. Because, i live in a world that exists, and everything that exists can be measured. But apparently, there are people that like to measure things that are not there. Fictionally, there can be anything below zero, but in real world you cannot measure something that does not exist. If this operation had to count anything that exists, because you cannot NOT have something that is there. Funny how ''science'' denies the existence of God, only on the sole premise that they haven't seen Him or felt Him. Though that doesn't make God any less real. But somehow ''science'' manages to measure stuff that aren't there and count them as if they were true. and temperature dear Lord
