Raid train today. Wasn't able to do one raid at Sprint because the timer was low and my app wouldn't load. Of course it gave out EX passes....to half the people that raided, all under level 35. For Thursday at 2pm. Are EX raids just never on weekends? That's when people are mostly raiding!

I admit to letting the game auto select my team, but the Kyogre had Thunder and more than not of my Groudons had Solar Beam.

The game bases its auto-selects off the moves the Kyogre has, so if it picks Groudon it'll have Thunder, or if it picks Exeggutor it won't have Blizzard.

I really hope when it gets to summer again Niantic will open raid times back up to ~8pm so maybe even EX raids might happen during after work hours.

Kyogre is incredibly easy to catch if you have an IPhone with AR. Just toggle it on, search him out and get in his face. It also gives you the expert handler boost, which I believe adds a minor boost to catch rate? The only downside is that there is a chance that he'll go crazy. So far I've done 4 raids, caught 3. The only one I didn't was the one that went crazy. New Exraid passes went out. I was at both raids that triggered it and didn't get any. I suppose it could be worse, I could be the guy who has 600 raids has been present at all 6 of the raids that have triggered exraids in our neighbourhood and still hasn't received a pass. The ExRaid "system" is still a broken mess and is actively discouraging people to play. Excellent job.

so i decided i'd go and trash a bunch of crappy mons with sub-90% ivs i've been pointlessly holding on to (poo poo like 84% iv seakings and whatnot) and boy oh man why the gently caress did they change it so that any time you do anything to your pokemon it resets all the way to the loving start of the list. this is irritating as gently caress and i hope it's just a bug that they fix.

Finally got an EX raid pass. Did the raid today, from 10-1045. We set a 1015 start time just in case....and one lady was really pissed about it, because she had to get to work. I understand, but no one wanted to be the assholes that jump right at 10, seeing as the passes seem to be pretty low in number. Right at 1014 another dude zipped in and actually in an Uber to get to the raid, so thankfully we waited, so we had 11 accounts. Fucker had Focus Blast and was one-shotting everything but we beat him. Everyone but the pissed lady caught him. My friend caught on the first ball, mine was the second. Two of the other guys were playing for their kids and were worried about losing the chance, so another person caught them for them. The suck part is that everyone else was in a circle to battle but that one lady refused to get near the group, almost anyone would have tried to catch him for her. Ah well? One of the players was whining hers was only 72% but loving hell man, it's a drat Mewtwo, I don't care if he has negative %!

Assuming you have enough common trash to evolve such that it's going to take the full 30 mins, just search for "pidgey" on one device and "hoothoot" on the second device and "sentret" on the third? Or am I missing the problem?

Yeah you can get Kyogre to like, Ho-Oh/Ursaring/Ponyta levels of close with the AR+ mode. Plus if what I saw was correct, Kyogre won't even do the stupid side to side drifting in that mode.

Do we even have AR+ on android yet? I haven't been keeping up with it because it's goddamn stupid. Give us trading already, drat it  . I've only done one Kyogre raid thus far. He *is* definitely way farther back than most have been, I think since the birds. We have been spoiled but large target circles and have forgotten our true pokemaster ways.

Yeah, I've been practicing the center throw with regular pokeballs on far away trash. I'm getting good enough at it that I think I could try curveballs on an actual kyogre now. The AR trick lets you recenter almost instantly anyway so it's not like you need to get good at the side throws. Has anybody here been mapping out their local s2 cells? I'm trying to make sure I hit at least one gym in each cell every cycle now, and some of the local raiders are targeting low traffic gyms that are in cells by themselves to try to bump them up to ex eligible. I know this isn't the level of transparency people wanted, but it helps to have some idea what you're doing and what effect it has.

much like "okay nobody tap OK after catching a raid boss so everyone can catch it" I'm not actually convinced that's meaningfully going to alter any kind of result, but there are some people here who've been deliberately trying to boost a park spawn that's in a mostly water S2 so there's only one real possible ex raid location. I guess we'll see if it works?

There's a raid which happened a week or two here at a "turns over every week or so maybe" park with one stop and one gym. I'm sure it's an overly complicated mess behind the scenes just like most of Niantic's ideas. still, like you, I'm interested to see if the deliberate boost attempts work out consistently or not.

Finally got to try Kyogre out today and it is a beast. Both raids had blizzard and it wasn't even worth dodging, as I got shredded since I don't have high level ideal mins to fill my group out. I whiffed a ton of balls and lost the first one. At the second stop I caught one for my kid on the first ball, and got mine on the third. You really do have to hook it way out there just right or you don't hit the catch ring, or miss it entirely. Low ivs but I don't care too much there is still plenty of time.

I wish the idea of 'EX raids spawns at parks' never came out. It's bad enough that its winter time and daylight saving times limited my raiding times to approximately a 2 hour window, but even when a raid spawns people aren't willing to do it unless its a park reachable from their car.
