There are ways to make enormous amounts of money in crypto.

Starting out with $100 and making lots of very small bets using medium leverage in between overreacting to every 5 minute candle is...not the hill I would have chosen to start out on

in fact, making insanely risky bets for a small enough fraction of your net worth in a bubble is possibly the biggest +EV life changing move you can make - while the bubble runs virtually everything you do will print money, so as long as you keep taking $ off the table and accept that you're going to lose most of the rest, the amount you take off should still be life changing if it lasts long enough

playing a game where you lose X 90% of the time and make 100X the rest should really be a no brainer for most people but vOv risk aversion

Is this a good time to get into bitcoin? I have $5,000 I was going to put into my Roth IRA after getting my taxes done, but I saw BTC was as cheap as 7800 this week on Bitfinex. It looks like I can get a 3% discount if I buy some "USDT" which is some kind of United States backed crypto for using dollars easier?

You'd have to be loving stupid to keep holding the bag at this point. And before, sure, it's easy to say now that you know how everything happened, but at every point in the curve there was a high chance of everything going to hell, or your exchange getting hacked, or etc etc etc

But by all means please keep investing time and money in bitcoin I'm sure it's gonna be alright

It's fixed. Don't transfer small amounts between exchanges, or use a coin that doesn't have a large fee - there's usually -something- that's cheap or nearly free to send across and often it even has a small arb attached.

What Pochoclo is saying is that not only were those risk profiles not accurate months ago, today, or anytime inbetween, but you also didn't know what the risk profiles were at any of those points. It's easy to point at the bubble and say "look at that, I should have bought this last month and I would have made X%" but at literally every point on the curve the probability of that point being the peak would have seemed high, making it a bad bet. losing X 90% of the time could have been 99% of the time, winning 100x could have been 2x and might only happen, 0.1% of the time, etc. These are numbers that you and I are just pulling out of our asses.

At least at the roulette wheel you actually know the odds.

I don't want to work. I don't want to be forced to do something, anything, 8+ hours of the day, or have to suffer the consequences of being homeless. People say "but you don't have to work!", Uh, yes you do, if you want to live a halfway decent life. Isn't being "forced" to do something essentially slavery? I don't care about Lambos, or Moons, or any fancy poo poo like that. I just want to be financially independent, and able to work if I WANT to, not because I have no other choice. This is my only goal. To TRULY be free in this life. Able to wake up, and do what I want, instead of "ugh I have to be at work in 30 mins". For the people that say they would continue to work, good for you. I would keep myself occupied by traveling all over the world, something I cannot do currently becuase I don't have the leisure. I just want simple freedom. These are our lives, so why is so much of how they are lived, not dictacted by us?
EDIT: To all the doubters, people insulting me for believing that our current societal structure built upon labor for basic necessities is bullshit, gently caress you. I will be wealthy, and crypto is already helping me get there. By the end of the year, I will be substantially richer than I am currently just from holding the assets I have. Of course this could fail to happen if I sold, but I won't because I know where I want to exit. Calling me a Millenial and smirking to yourself isn't change the fact that you have a boss, and have to go to some (likely) crappy workplace against your will(don't bullshit yourself and say "I love my job!").

Its reached a point where I can't tell whether its parody or not.

It is pretty comical to see bunch of people acting like wolf of wall street cause they made some money gambling on a speculative bubble.

Also, lmao at +EV calculations, please walk the nocoiner sheeples through your calculations in an trading environment that's a total blackbox in terms of information and where the trading platform can close shop and walk away with all your money.

Sad thing is all their stupid "analysis" is gonna do is attract bigger morons like Zuarg to put money into the blackhole.
