Sylvan Esso are really really boring imo. No clue why they just don't do it for me.

If you have the chance to see Destroyer on the current tour, do so; the sets are a good mix of Dan's recent works + some old favorites, and the band is very tight

I don't listen to Sylvan Esso, but "Coffee" is a really good single.Guavatin posted:Can anyone recommend some synth artists in the way of purity ring/Grimes/Chvrches? I'm looking for my fix. Given that you like Grimes and Purity Ring, I'm inclined to recommend the whole suite of dark Canadian synthpop. Check out Austra's first album, Feel It Break, for more spooky songwriting or TR/ST, Joyland, for something more dancefloor oriented. The history of Crystal Castles is tragic, and I feel torn about acknowledging the band's past work, but their self-titled 2008 album is really something. It was the first big hit of this new wave of Canadian synthpop, and I think you can hear its influence in later chillwave and witch house. Lastly, Chairlift might be a little artier than what you're looking for, but they are definitely synth. Check out this effort post.

I really wasn't that big a fan of Sylvan Esso's second album like everyone else seemed to be, but their first album loving rules. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzy3RTxVmmw I missed the opportunity to see them here last year because tickets sold out, but they were like $50 anyway and I'm definitely not about to spend $50 to see a relatively new band who put out one album I liked. However, they're playing a festival I'm going to next month, so hopefully there won't be any scheduling conflicts and I'll just be able to see them then.

When Alice left CC, she took all the talent of CC with her.

Yeah, I wasn’t sure about supporting CC post-Alice and then she released that statement and it was a no brained. II is still one of my favorite all time albums though.
