Finally drove to a DSA meeting in Houston. I will probably join at least one working group. Little Caesars Pizza is the pizza of socialism and sang solidarity forever.

Our county governmenet has been touting its homeless services, but the homeless seem not to agree. The county's also on this anti-panhandling tear. Anyway, we're putting together care packages to give to the homeless and panhandlers and engaging with them at community meetings and the like, and it's been going pretty well and with, hopefully, the heavy DSA influence on the new council should we win our races, we could get the county to actually respond.

So I have a question. I see that the DSA has many different prices for membership: Membership Type Annual Dues Amount Introductory $45.00 Regular $60.00 Sponsor $85.00 Family $110.00 Sustainer $175.00 Student/Young Democratic Socialists $20.00 Low Income $27.00 Lifetime for 50 Years $750.00 Now, I should have no problem affording the $45.00 introductory rate. However, I currently have a temp job and while it will end in three months, there is no guarantee that I won't be fired tomorrow for any reason, and I don't have a job lined up after that. Would it be a lovely thing if I become a member with the low income $27.00 rate and not the $45.00 rate due to this? I know this is technically all anonymous for which one I sign up for, but I want to maintain my honor and not feel like a piece of poo poo cheapskate. punk rebel ecks has issued a correction as of 04:08 on Feb 10, 2018 |

There's no income requirement for which dues to pay, it operates on the honor system. If paying dues at a certain level could put you in a bad spot in the near future, go ahead and do the low income option. I'm sure there are also members in your chapter who will help pay for dues if necessary. If I were in your spot, I'd do the $27 tier, and when employment is a bit more stable, do the $45 tier or the monthly payment plan. Chucktesla has issued a correction as of 04:27 on Feb 10, 2018 |

Pay monthly dues- it's what I plan on doing once my $27 membership runs out. Also, there are plenty of options for new PDX members if you need assistance beyond the options offered by National.
