UGGHH what a lovely day, I just got back from taking an elderly sick relative's three elderly sick cats to be put down. That part wasn't that bad, everybody including the vet agreed it was the best for them all (and the cats were so sick and weak they were completely silent on the way to and in the vet's office, it was eerie). But helping to clean up afterwards... People, if you have a cat who pees outside the box please please PLEASE wipe that poo poo up immediately, don't let it marinate on the floor! Especially if it's sick - I suspect it was the diabetic one and the urine had so much sugar it was a bacterial growth medium. I have smelled old lady cat pee, feral boy cat spray (and these were all girls), crusted old urine, and I have never smelled anything as repellent as that. I couldn't breathe as I wiped it up, and had to walk outside several times. We are letting the old litterboxes sit outside for several days in the rain before we even consider putting them in the car to take to the dump, even sealed in trash bags. I cannot describe the smell. It was wrong on such a fundamental level I think it predates language.  TL;DR  happy healthy clean cats thx
