I mean, she and Alistair are the only Grey Warden's of the group and considering the rest of them are your standard Motley Cast of Characters I imagine the officials didn't want to deal with all that hassle.

Heir03 posted:Dragon blood?? Just looked it up, doesn't look like it's mentioned in the games that I'm aware of, so here goes: King Calenhad, from whom the Theirin line is descended, supposedly drank Dragonblood and gained power that way, some of which was passed on to his descendants, using that power in the meantime to unite Ferelden and establish his line as Royalty.

Heir03 posted:Dragon blood?? King Calenhad, the first Theirin, was a Reaver. Someone that drank the blood of a dragon and was changed by the inherent magic of the beast. You might remember the crazy cultists who were guarding the Sacred Ashes. Same deal with them. Anyway, the legend goes that the power of that dragon has been passed down through the Theirin line for all these generations, granting secret powers to his descendants. Which is kind of true, but the Secret Powers mostly turned out to be "Works really super great as a source for blood magic."

Schwartzcough posted:So the game never really tries to explain why your other party members weren't captured, huh? That whole scene was really weird. Like unless I missed something it went like this 1. Warden and co + queen are on the verge of escape 2. Loghain's most powerful servant shows up and wrecks face 3. ??? 4. Somehow only the warden and Alistar are captured? The queen escapes? The warden's friends just get dumped out the back door or something? It's really odd and borderline nonsensical.
|
![]() |

I mean, the Queen part I guess I can buy. Cauthrien(?) thought she was rescuing Anora from those wily Wardens, and probably just had her taken home, where presumably she snuck off at the first opportunity, probably before Loghain was aware of the situation. But your other team mates definitely should've been captured. They could've kept this part the same, except you'd have to choose your rescue team from the people that DIDN'T come with you on the last mission.
|
![]() |
|
If you surrender to Cauthrien, she orders her goons to just arrest the Wardens, as Loghain doesn’t care about the others. Forward planning doesn’t seem to be Cauthrien’s strong point,

Glazius posted:I appreciate that they gave the dog some functional shenanigans. That's great. The dog IS supposed to be a full-fledged party member, technically. Most people just don't take him because he's not really as good as other party members in combat. He has party banter with other characters, and had occasional contributions to scenes and dialogues.
|
![]() |
|
The dog has two big problems 1)While his skillset is powerful(instant aoe stun and overwhelm) its incredibly limited in content and kind of boring. Most of the times when he levels all he gets is stats and his end game skill count is something like 4 active skills. 2) his role is primarily to do physical damage in melee. You are required to carry a rogue with you to open chests which means his role is almost certainly already taken by leliana/zev.

I love that Anora is acting like the concept of a political marriage is a bit weird to begin with, and that marrying her dead husband's brother is some kind of absolutely off-the-wall-bonkers notion that can only succeed because it's so crazy. Levirate marriage might not be so common these days but it's been a pretty common practice across various historical societies.

For instance the fire crystals for the dragon fights. You get a very minor elemental resistance boost if you pair two of the same type of crystal together, so a large and small fire crystal, for example. I don't place particularly high value on it. I look at the stats more than the resistances. Worth remembering is that the small crystals convert all damage dealt by Shale to the appropriate damage type, meaning you very much want a small Ice crystal for the High Dragon and Flemeth, both of whom have a 75% resistance to fire damage, but take EXTRA damage from ice (IIRC). The large Fire crystal is a good pick, though, as it gives her strength, defense, stamina regen, and a solid chunk of fire resistance for fighting said dragons. Also: Inferior posted:
