Friendly reminder that depending on where in the world you live, it's Valentines Day today or tomorrow. If that's the sort of thing you're in to, don't forget! Don't be a dummy like me and leave your gift in the shopping cart then wonder why you haven't received a shipping notification! Also even if you're not into silly made up holidays (and I so am not), it's a great excuse to get your SO some sexy undies.

As has been said, go in, do the best job you can so that if you quit in two weeks you can look at the check they cut and honestly say that you gave them a good value and fair work for that check, and you then should have no problem looking yourself in the mirror and not feeling guilty about doing what you need to do for your own good.

Hnng I'm 30 and so scared. Fast-track 20-month zero-to-hero RN degree program. 5 days a week, not including clinicals later on. 5x 16-week semesters with a week in-between. Total cost to me will be around 30k. Normally, would take 3.5-4 years to complete, so I'm happy to pay the $15k "penalty" for doing this program, but gently caress I'm so scared. Thankfully, I just secured an apartment across the street from the campus

BraveUlysses posted:besides pubg what's a good multiplayer shooter game these days? i need something new Man you're missing out. PUBG is extremely good if you play it in first person/fpp with a few guys you know - I've been playing it with some old core friends and it's fantastic. Only game to ever give me actual sweaty-palm adrenaline rushes. Winning a round actually feels like an achievement. This damned game pulled back my old gaming buddies who have four kids and haven't been online in years. It really rewards teamwork and communication, so if you can get some friends together it's a great time. BF:1 suffers from typical battlefield server-setting balance issues, but if you can find a good hardcore server that chokes vehicle spawns it's really fun. Fantastic graphics if you've got a ~modernish system. Play the medic/marksman single-shot rifles and go 30-2 with pubbies screeching about hacks. Rainbow Six: Siege is probably what you want. The dev team updates it constantly and it's twitchy enough to give you a real edge if you play it enough. I'm a diehard old Redstorm/Tom Clancy fan and the game is a really good mix of R6 corner/pie-cutting gunwork and modern player-specialty stuff. I get schooled a lot by teenagers but meh. It's also remarkably fun in co-op mode with a friend.

So yesterday kinda sucked, in terms of traffic. We had a cop get killed in the line of duty in a suburb last week. His funeral was yesterday. They shut down a major highway (US-75) from I-635 to SH-190 for the procession. It was one hell of a sight, fire trucks at several overpasses with ladders raised, even tow trucks at one overpass with an American flag, and what had to be close to 100 police cars leaving the church where the services were with their lights on with a little bit of fog. Our local drive time talk radio show (The Russ Martin Show) is a big supporter of first responders. They had someone call in; I haven't been able to verify this myself, but it sounded pretty AI (Russ Martin is a bit of a car guy anyway). A caller claimed to be a cop that was at the church service, and said the officer's body would not be in a typical hearse. He was supposedly transported via motorcycle side car from the church to the burial site. But... it seriously hosed traffic, and I was on a quad (as in 4 orders on me) at the time. I can't get too upset. I have a hell of a lot of respect for all first responders, and DFW still remembers the attack against cops a year and a half ago - lots of "back the blue" and black/white flag stickers with a blue line on cars. A friend/coworker had a rant about it while we were BSing on Voxer, and part of me wanted to slap the poo poo out of him. I'm very much a liberal, but I respect the hell out of first responders and military (which apparently doesn't go that well with "liberal" according to my family?). They're doing the jobs that I don't have the balls to do. When it comes to police and the military, I prefer to say I support the individual policemen and servicemen, the Good Guys who do hard jobs and help people. I am staunchly left-wing though, so I absolutely do not support the military as an institution, nor the actions some policemen/servicemen are made to do by their superiors. However, I do recognize that we do need a police force, and regrettably also the military, due to the currents conditions in society and the world. The military-industrial complex is poisonous and is killing the world. If we could break that apart, I would have somewhat less of a problem with the military, mostly limited to the blind obedience they drill into everyone who signs up.

So now time sheets are having to be emailed, and the data entered manually into the database, until I can find a better solution. gently caress.
