So I looked up the three "big" players of the Duchene trade: Turris, Duchene, and Girard. Duchene caught up and passed Turris in Points, while Girard is doing decent enough in Colorado, based on stats anyway.

Girard has been far better than a 19 year old should be. The fact we got a first rounder along with him has mostly been just a bonus.

If Snow was a real winner, he'd try to dump some salary and offer his two 1st along with Ho-Sang/Bellows for EK. Go all in on the pure offence, no defence strategy.

If Karlsson gets traded, it's gonna be so bad. Trading McDonagh would also be bad. The Pens are gonna throttle people with that center lineup.

He's had to drag around terrible defensemen playing very difficult minutes for years now. I agree with you that he is no longer a top flight $7m defenseman, but I still think he is very good. I wouldn't consider it an overpayment for a team which needed help on the blueline to give him $7m as long as it wasn't a length over 4 years, but more likely he's probably worth something like 6 years $38m in an open market. If someone like Boston got him and put him on the second pairing, he'd do extremely well against teams' second and third lines.
