A million of that half can be buried in the AHL making his cap hit 900k. Rangers have 20+ million available next season depending on moves. I'm not saying they should do it because I don't see the point if you're rebuilding but I don't think Beleksy is going to ya e much of an impact there.

The only other squads I can think of who can add him are Vegas and Carolina. Vegas probably won't take a risk of upsetting their surprisingly great chemistry, and Carolina's probably on his NTC list. Plus their issue is goaltending and forward depth, not D.

Ummm tampa has the cap space, barring deadbeat Ryan third wheeling into the trade. Also they have the prospect depth.

Good return for the Rangers. I like how they're getting age ~20 defensemen, giving them a decent prospect pool which should be able to give them half an NHL D corps in a few years.

I know Spooner has been playing wing, but they're been short one NHL center all season and he easily fills a middle six role, if he sticks with the team.

Like most teams though, Tampa doesn't have cap space for EK and Ryan and Ottawa won't take salary back, so Tampa would have to pay Ottawa for Karlsson AND pay a third team (probably Vegas) enough in players/picks to entice them to swallow Ryan's contract. Nashville can do the deal straight up now, keep Ryan (who is dramatically overpaid but not useless) for their playoff run and probably find a taker for ~half his remaining contract in the offseason.

The only source for possible optimism for Ottawa fans is that quickly gutting payroll is usually what an owner does when he wants to sell. Bad news of course is if Melnyk does sell the team will probably move :smith:

The 3 way deal has been the one discussed for a while now. The Senators have been negotiating near exclusively with Tampa for this time and Karlsson appears to be more willing to sign an extension there than anywhere else. That doesn't preclude the possibility of another team in but I can't see it as more likely.
