Applebees Appetizer posted:Have you seen any camper vans at all? Yeah, there are usually at least one, maybe two of them each week. There is something about the auction sheets not going over any of the camper internals though, like sinks and heaters and whatever. Dunno if a separate inspector sent out would test those things either.

Would you mind watching a few to see what they are selling for? Just curious, if they are a good bit cheaper than the typical poo poo around here it might be worth a shot for me to keep an eye out for one.

They are cheaper and better conditon/less piss/no mouse damage etc... from the ones I’ve seen but like Kaker said the auctions do t bother with pics of the inside living areas so who knows. I’ve seen 1 or 2 recently for sale brought over and they looked great but they were already in America.

I have a feeling that the prices are going to be inflated on them because boy the pacific northwest loves themselves some 4x4 vans. If they come pre-campered?

Those two guys are probably snatching up 75% of all the delicas (also town ace, hiace, hombres, homies), etc that are up for sale in japan. Was at the port on friday, 6 delicas were waiting to be picked up. Last time i was there a guy was loading 4 delicas.

Right, this means that it didn't sell at all and will probably show up at auction again in a day or so. Or not, sometimes it's just once. it is possible that the system just hasn't caught up yet and it did actually sell and just isn't showing the results of it.

Goddamn I would want it even if it didn’t drive for that little money. How much can you safely assume the shipping and fees would add on to the east coast? Like $3000? I’m also asking because I just got a guy at work interested by showing him a bunch of land cruiser pictures from this thread.

I’m also asking because I just got a guy at work interested by showing him a bunch of land cruiser pictures from this thread. The largest thing I've shipped have been the Lite Ace and Crown, both having a total transport cost of 140000 yen, or about 1300 USD. This is the cost to get it from Japan to the US port, mine being in Jacksonville, FL. Since the transport costs are the same between me here in Florida and Garbageman being in Washington I'd have to assume that the transport costs to you would be the same. Since this weird hearse is so large and ornate though I'd assume it would cost even more money. It's by weight and size and the gold house on the back of that thing is huge. Generally I place about $3000 (on top of the cost of the vehicle itself) to have the car sitting in my driveway, all the way from Japan. The transport costs I've talked about already are included in that, but I have to transport these things across the state of Florida as well. There are a bunch of other assorted fees that eat into that 3k price I put on it, port storage and broker fees and all that. Both of the small Land Crusiers I've got are smaller and lighter than the Crown and Lite Ace so they cost less. A larger Crusier like a 4 door J70 or J60 would probably be 1300 also, or even more.

If you don't mind me asking, which solution did you go with getting these cars from J-ville to you? Brokered hot-shot? You had also mentioned getting a trailer and hauling them yourself. I would really like to find an early 90's Honda/Acura Vigor for sentimental reasons. All the ones I see here in FL are on last legs, I figure there must be some nicer examples in Japan. I wouldn't even mind picking it up myself with a rented trailer. Don't know if I could get into the port though, looks like you need someone with a TWIC card.

madeintaipei posted:If you don't mind me asking, which solution did you go with getting these cars from J-ville to you? Brokered hot-shot? You had also mentioned getting a trailer and hauling them yourself. I use a broker from Great World Logistics, Henry. The cost is reasonable (imho) and I have zero bullshit I have to deal with, absolutely none, which is why I like using a broker. I buy a car, pay for it, 40~ or so days later JCD sends me the psychical bits that came with the car (manuals and extra keys, that stuff) and they copy me on an email to Henry. Henry then spells out exactly what he needs and when. Some time later he goes "Ok ready to be picked up" and I send a driver (with proper port clearances) to go pick the vehicle up. I've left out a bunch of smaller busywork but the part I want to get across is the complete lack of stress or confusion on my end. The broker does all that, he just needs me to sign and send specific documents, pay small various fees relating the port and I get my car no problem. You can easily go to the port and pick up stuff yourself, the TWIC card is only needed for not-escorted access. You can always make an appointment with someone to come with you at the port to pick up whatever it is. Then again I've never bothered going to Jacksonville because I'd rather not spend 12~ hours or so to drive there and back. I originally thought about getting a vehicle and going to pick them up myself but I'm starting to do multiple vehicles and I really just don't want to bother.

Yeah Henry is a contact that JCD knew, so the flow goes nicely in that way since they will email each other (cc'd with me on also) directly. Missed this one by 30000 yen A sort of proto-Prado, in super excellent shape (paid for an inspection, didn't win and that always stings ). It's big draw is the mileage, 67000 km or 42000 miles total. The bid went way higher than I was expecting since Prado, and I was bidding high just to be sure to clear everyone else but I guess the condition and mileage had other ideas. Applebees Appetizer: Unfortunately I won't be able to give you a sold price if they sell since they are USS auctions, but these are the only two I've seen so far this week. Both Toyotas, both 4WD, the HiAce having some unique seat flora. The Town Ace truck is by far the most common variant that's seen. KakerMix fucked around with this message at 17:30 on Feb 28, 2018 |

Lost the bid on this one by 24000 yen, ended up going for a hair under 5000 USD. A lot like the low mileage one I posted earlier that I also lost on, this one being in a bit worse shape with higher miles. Identical otherwise just swap brown with blue.

FINALLY Won this 1985 2L-T turbo diesel, 5 speed manual, bright orange decal wearing 4x4 Toyota Hilux SURF. Fender mirrors. Completely rust free. number #907 I bid higher than I ever have before because post-inspection it ended up becoming a much nicer truck than the sheet would have you believe. I won it almost right up to my auction limit too so a few other people also wanted this badly. Check out the differences between what the sheet says vs. what the third party inspector guy says: Auction Sheet posted:5MT, Diesel, AC, left and right front inside panel dent, left and right front frame dent, rear floor dent, small chips in windshield, interior dirty and tears, AC not working, no tachometer, end panel dent, core support dent, ceiling liner torn, other paint fade dents and scratches, tail lens cracked Actual Inspector Man posted:engine starts idles and revs fine, no smoke or vibrations, timing belt at 200,000 km, no sludge, radiator fluid ok, no oil leaks visible, front inside panels and frame not bent, end panel and core support ok, power steering ok, tires have 60% no cracks, spare tire ok, undercarriage painted no rust visible, boots ok, body as described in diagram, rear gate dent noticeable, seat covers installed but original seats ok, ceiling liner tears 10cm x1 3-4cm x4, no burns but slight smell, drivers door 5cm and 3cm tear, AC not working, compressor not running, clutch ok, gears ok, check engine lamps ok, no diff lock, 4wd ok, rear gate window ok but slow, wipers ok, lights ok, tach ok I'm always excited about whatever I win at auction but I'm especially happy about this one since my wife takes the Crown out to do her resell shopping across town and people always ask her about what the heck it is. She figures that if she replaces her USDM Tracker with 'something cute and attention grabby' that it would do double duty as her car and a rolling billboard for our import business. Plus the top can come off just like she likes to have her Tracker. The only things I need to do to it when it arrives is clean it, ozone it, and see about that AC. Hoping it's just needing a charge but expecting it to be more substantial than that. KakerMix fucked around with this message at 08:51 on Mar 2, 2018 |
