Oh, we use "rabbiting" all the time in the 'hood. Down in the ghetto. Because I'm down, man.

Anyway...

Yeah, so you can get the Orc to retreat. I mentioned this a number of times during the last SR:R LP, but assault rifles can be very OP. A few rounds of a full-burst, and you can hold off everyone and retreat in good order.

That's not what happened the first time I played this, of course. I had a hard time getting Dietrich out because of the loss in AP from the summon, and because I kept trying to haste my PC and Glory (whom I'd foolishly sent to try and cripple the Orc).

In general the amount of [descriptive text] in this game is like, several magnitudes higher than in Dead Man's Switch. I didn't actually realize it until making the jump from LPing that game into this one, but in a game with such simple visuals (and no voice acting) it really helps breathe more life into everything.

Rabbits are really fast and live in holes. Their natural move is to leg it for a hidey hole when they sense danger.

The true answer is building a hybrid rifle/decker and sending your now obsolete team on vacation in Bonn.
It should be still be a important city for the government in alternate SR 90s lore. That or a nuke/dragon/cosmic horror a fell on it.

(The other two are the Gregminster theme from Suikoden II and Hell March from Command & Conquer Red Alert in case you were wondering)

Really happy to see an update. It's very easy to lose in the fight at the end there. Especially if you get overconfident because you've played the game before and think you know what you are doing.

Mildly related: I did some pen and paper Shadowrun recently. Highlight of the evening was a container ship illegally parking on an island with one of the characters running forward for a better view. Naturally he went aboard alone to investigate before anyone else got there and was attacked by a berserking possessed guy.

Very good taste. :)

Yeah, she went from zero to fatal cerebral hemorrhage in about a tenth of a second.

But Eiger wasn't there and she's not buying that, for the simple reason that it should have been impossible for it to happen. That's not "mysterious conspiracy" Black ICE. That's not even "government black ops" Black ICE. That's the kind of security you'd find on places like a Dragon's horde or a megacorp's most secret servers.

So either the team hosed up and didn't notice the symptoms until it was too late, or they've stepped in poo poo so loving deep that they just passed the mariana trench and kept going. And she knows which one of those things is more likely.

To an extent, sure. Guess what my first character in this game was? But even so, and especially on hard, a shaman to help toss buffs and a melee user to pop people out of cover really helps a lot. Convenient that we seem to have those. Surely a coincidence, HBS.

Kanfy showed some of that in this update, too. Trying to shoot through armor DR and cover damage mitigation is a long, slow road. Crits on out-of-cover enemies, though, that's something else.

Feuerschwinge being kinda obscure by the 2050's isn't that far-fetched. The early 21st century in Shadowrun Germany, and really worldwide, was just completely crazy to the point where it's kind of a miracle the whole planet didn't go into a full-on Mad Max style breakdown of civilization. Hell, the Federal Republic didn't survive as a political entity, and there's been multiple disasters and conflicts that overshadow Feuerschwinge by far.

Case in point, they namedrop that she got shot down over the SOX. That'd be the Saar-Lorraine-Luxembourgh special administrative zone. Which was created after the Cattenom nuclear power plant went full Chernobyl.

Feuerschwinge being completely unknown is a bit of an infodump crunch, I'd have appreciated if the characters were a little more aware of things going down 20 years before their birth. For a Yank like me, it's like being unaware of the Selma march. Not necessarily something you could pull out off the top of your head in your mid 20s to early 30s, but definitely something you probably have heard about.

And Dietrich has no excuse for not piping up. Learning that sort of history to the kids is what someone like him lives for.

The mansion isn't registered for extraterritoriality, so yes they would try.

From what I'm reading (my main source being the "Shadowiki", a German-language Shadowrun wiki which has a ton of information, especially for stuff relating to Germany - which will come in very handy for this game, I'd figure), BuMoNa (Bund für den Mobilen Notfallarzteinsatz, or basically "Association for Mobile Emergency Medical Services") will try to get you out of anywhere that isn't extraterritorial or corp territory if you have their High Threat Response package. So yeah, if the mansion isn't extraterritorial, they'd try to get in there and get her out, since if the mansion is corp territory (which honestly is quite likely - but that's just because it's Shadowrun and if it's some sort of secret lab like thing, odds of a corp being involved are very high... well, that or a dragon, I guess) it's not open corp territory, so there'd be no way for BuMoNa to know it's corp territory.

Fun fact! BuMoNa, DocWagon and Careline (a company from the UK that does more of the same) actually have agreements with each other that allow people to take advantage of their services if they have contracts with a member of the agreement. So if you're a runner based out of Seattle with a DocWagon contract, but find yourself in Germany for a run, you can actually call BuMoNa and use your DocWagon contract.

He would have been super young when the Dragonfall happened, but it is a bit of a miss that he's apparently unaware of it entirely. There's another 'historical' event mentioned later that your character really shouldn't be ignorant of, but honestly, most of the lore stuff is happened with a bit more subtlety. Considering the sheer amount of info they were working with, it's a pretty decent batting average on HBS's part to only have a couple of "As you know [expo dump]" instances happen in the game.

I'd have more patience for Eiger's finger pointing if she didn't immediately jump on the "rookie", as opposed to the team medic, who is wared herself and so presumably knows something of biofeedback.

It just feels like shes picking on Rosa because Monika snubbed her on the in charge aspect, which feels really petty, especially given Rosa was probably the best option of people who were actually present.

But whatever, grief works in weird ways.

And yeah, DocWagon HTR will go to a lot of trouble to rescue you, bearing in mind that anyone short of their Super Platinum (100k nuyen a year) contract is getting charged through the nose if any of the DocWagon team dies in the process of extracting them.

With a different conversation path Dietrich will be like "throwing Rosa under the bus isn't going to help anything" to which Eiger responds with "under a bus is exactly where she belongs" which is kind of messed up but at the same time a pretty good line.
