Cub Swanson is 400 years old and will never fight for a title, also he’s not in a money weight. it doesn’t make sense to pay him what he’s worth & im fairly sure he can still fight atram lobo level competition in the b leagues.

so i watched Tuivasa's fight against James McSweeney at AFC 17 to get a better idea of what Tai's gas tank is like, and it's about as bad of a fight you would expect from a heavyweight fighting a dude who fought at light heavyweight and definitely does not look near 265 in this fight despite being geared the heck up. there's a cool moment where Tuivasa goes for a suplex and gives up his own back in the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL5SYYhVQfE&t=740s at this point they both seemed to gas the gently caress out. Tuivasa was on top landing some bombs but looked like he was dying as he threw 'em, and they roll around on the ground in various positions trying to catch their breath for a while. Tai is at one point sliding across the ground like a seal while throwing punches and grasping desperately at McSweeney's legs. I thought I liked trashweight fights but I think maybe, I was wrong. anyway, I think Arlovski survives round 1 and cruises to an easy decision at 225. here's hoping my love of The Pit Bull never leads me down such a dark road again

I feel like everything hinges on the scoring of round 1. I lean towards Kajan because I feel like he landed the better shots but also his style involves a lot of backing up that could swerve judging.

Triticum Guzzler posted:i got that impression from the story about him applying for a visa and being escorted out by security. Yea, I really have to wind in the sperging about MMA around guys like that, they get a bit funny very quickly if they take something the wrong way. He was taking the piss out of everyone and I was a bit cheeky back and he came at me pretty hard but all in good fun, on the way out I said something like "yea good luck against Jesse Taylor, really hope he doesn't wrestle you for 15 minutes whilst punching you in the face!" sarcastically, and I could tell I had taken it too far for a split second. One of my good friends and boxing coach moved from the valleys to my city. He grew up boxing and got onto the GB Olympic team until he realised he didn't want the head trauma and wanted a real vocational career instead. Some of the stories he tells me make me laugh and horrified at the same time. willie_dee fucked around with this message at 00:41 on Mar 18, 2018 |

Le Saboteur posted:Wait was that Hakeem guy from Canada and SBG guy? Holy poo poo. For this camp, yeah. He's went to Jackson's and Almeida's before for sparring training so no one really knows why he decided SBG was the place to be to train for his debut other than the idolizing McGregor thing. He got caught so quick I don't even know if I can blame SBG. It's one thing if you look like poo poo and do dumb things over the course of a few rounds. But there's not a whole lot to evaluate when you get starched by your opponents second punch. Sucks for him, he put his career on ice for the last year waiting for a UFC call up and then finally has a debut like that. Hope he gets another chance.

I dunno. He's won 6 of his 9 in the UFC but he's so forgettable. I keep mixing him up with Sam Alvey. Which is funny because Sam Alvey TKO'd him. If he loses this next one and hits that 3 fight skid he's done. He's 40 years old. Hang them up or move to light heavy and try his luck there. gently caress it. Go full heavyweight because 40 is their prime.
