I finally got a TV with HDR and I was wondering, is it something that a game has to specifically support or are all games HDR enhanced?

Specifically support. It's better in some games then others(monster Hunter is crap). May require tweaking settings.

GTAV’s story mode was way too heavy on never letting you get paid so you could use fun stuff, which was really frustrating. At least if you games the stock missions right you could have 27 billion dollars after your finished it.

I really enjoyed GTA Online for years but eventually the economy just grew way too inflated and everything cost far too much money. Clothing items that cost 10 grand, cars that cost millions to buy and two/three times the cost to fully customize, hundred million dollar yachts. It reached a point where it felt like I couldn't get anything unless I spend an inordinate amount of time grinding (or if you were around during the early PS3 hacking era when people hacked billions like candy), which sucks because I like GTA Online still but it feels so overwhelming to load it up now and see like eight new expansions all with their own isolated gameplay gimmicks. Where do you even start?

There is zero reason to buy 99% of what they release as DLC, it's there for whale suckers. The properties that enable new gameplay aren't that expensive at all.

The big rumor (with like fifty quotation points) that I've read most recently is that they're doing two cities: Vice City and some fictional South American city (probably drawing off their Max Payne 3 experience).

I should probably get back into it then. I had the big apartment and the 3 garages full of cars (the one I had that was just "rare/exclusive cars" is probably out of date now) and all that stuff but I quit around the time Yachts and Lowriders came out because the cost of new cars/properties/fun stuff was vastly outpacing the rate I was earning money and Rockstar made it super difficult to dupe cars, so it got really discouraging.

Nostalgia4Dogges posted:

GTA5 is actually selling better this generation than it did in the last generation. Studies show that many people buy GTA5 as their first (or if not, one of the first few) game for their new PS4/Xbox One. I remember reading years ago that GTA Online shark cards made over a billion dollars and I have to imagine at this point they're making even more.

I played two online heists of GTA online.

The second took three and a half hours to do, with the time allotted as follows:

0.5 hours getting everyone in the same room and going through the briefing
1.0 hour driving from the start point to the airport with no actual encounters or gameplay, just driving to the location (6-7 tries)
1.5 hours flying around in circles while my teammates did a prison break which sounded fun over comms but I didn't have anything to do (6-7 tries)
0.5 hours of actual gameplay where I had enemies to deal with.

Other than a brief dalliance with London, GTA has consistently been about satirizing America’s excesses, and it would be weird to suddenly buck that trend since it’s been so successful.

Yeah every so often I read an article like hey we added biker gangs! Check out this new heist! We brought back Smuggler's Run! We've turned GTA Online into TRACKMANIA! Here's a Delorean! Now play NASCAR!

It's kind of nuts. GTA Online slowly turned into some weird hosed-up violent version of PlayStation Home before our very eyes. I wonder if they'll ever do a casino.

The funny thing is that some of it is even fun. I just wish they added all the online stuff into the single-player, but you know, they are trying to make people buy their lovely cash cards and you can game the single player stock market to become the .01% by the end of the game.

Yeah, they definitely take the right mindset. I went through them fully on several playthroughs, but mostly after I was done with the story content and was just looking for a grindy challenge to supplement invasions.

There are some great bosses buried in there and getting the platinum trophy is just fun enough to warrant it.
