They're obnoxious lovely trash birds, like seagulls and pigeons. They ruined my dad's bird feeder when they would descend on it in flocks of a dozen on a small bird feeder, crowding out and bullying away every other bird. The only birds willing to fight them were the red-bellied woodpeckers.

Cythereal posted:Female boat tailed grackle. The males are all dark and iridescent, the females are brown. The boat-tailed grackles formed an orderly queue behind the crows, when I lived in Tennessee, to wait their turn at the cat food bowl I put out in the middle of my yard to try to keep a tomcat away from my other strays* because he started fights with them. The females also harassed Verona because, while all of the neutered strays were brown tabbies, she was the only classic tabby. So she was recognizable as a cat that ate their babies. I could always tell when she was heading to my back porch when I heard the grackles going off. I watched one fly at Veruca as she tried to jump the fence to get away from them. It pushed her off. I once ordered Cat Food for the Cat Lovers Soul because it was on sale. I put it out for the cats, and about 15 minutes later I heard an angry blue jay. I looked outside and a bunch of grackles were surrounding the tray I put the food on. One blue jay was standing in the middle, angrily pecking at the food. Any time a grackle tried to grab a piece, that blue jay would put her head and crest down, fold her wings into a heart shape, scream and lunge at them. If she had had a blade, she would have shivved a grackle bitch. I like great-tailed grackles better. I really miss that house * All of the other strays were spayed and neutered. Eventually the tomcat, that I named Shitbag because of his treatment of the others, was also neutered. Edit: Geese are assholes Bored has a new favorite as of 17:36 on Mar 28, 2018 |

Strange, because the pigeons here give no fucks. Unless she's running directly at the birds, I'm not sure anything's going to change. -OR- FFS I can't wait for this to be described in the western media as THE NEW CRAZE THAT'S SWEEPING JAPAN!!!11!!one!! I can't stop watching this My budgie (RIP) was pied and so as an adult never got the white ring around his pupils, so when he pinned it was super obvious. It was mostly when he was romancing the phone handset cord, or the fluffy toys, or the teatowel hanging on the rail. "Ol' Scary Eyes is humping again!"
