I have no idea if this should be spoiler because it's not about this show but just in case. The main plot point in the sequel to the original Westworld movie, Futureworld, was that Delos was using the DNA of the guests to clone them, kill the original human and release the programmed clone into the world to serve Delos's interests. Assuming they don't just leave this plot point unresolved that's probably something to do with it.

On the surface, it's just a 2 week gap between the events of the finale where he's with Hale, and when the Delos security find him.

I think the preview for the next episode gave it all away.

So in the past the park is looking for investors. Young Will and his rear end in a top hat brother in law get invited to a dinner party and socialize with all the guests. The guests of course are all hosts and used to demonstrate how life like they all are. So they get some seed money from them. Fast forward down the line, Will has usurped the company and is heavily involved in feedback on the park. He is obsessed with Dolores and is hoping to get the one he knew back. There is also Arnold, who too has his issues. Will promises Arnold a poo poo load of money and probably something else to get Dolores sentient. Arnold goes crazy from the quest blows his brains out, Will just gets bitter and does his whole maze hunt.

In the present Bernard takes them around the park. They find the dead hosts, the ones that had no interest in wiping out humanity/didn't measure up to Delores crazy bullshit. Delores is found and taken down, Bernard is left in charge to get things going again but with a few cybernetic screws loose. So he will get the park back up and running with full control of production, just in time for him to go rampant and pull a skynet.

Episode good, exited show is back. Also is intentionally misspelling Dolores a thread in-joke or something?

Nah, that's wrong. Arnold was working with a small group of programmers and Ford before the park opened and discovered that the androids were gaining sentience and tried to close it by suiciding with Dolores. Since Arnold was super reclusive and nobody knew who he was, Robert was able to bury it. The park was losing money, but Will got so obsessed with Dolores and the park that he backed it and saved it.

1st season had 3 timelines running.

1) Pre park opening that was mostly Dolores being interviewed by Arnold
2) Early days of the park with Dolores and Young WIll's first day there
3) Current park with older Will/Dolores

In all 3 Dolores went to the church, which makes it somewhat confusing.

I already know this season will trick us, so I'm not even going to speculate as to what's going on at this point.

Oh, also, Maeve using a line that was written for her word-for-word makes me think that, nope, she doesn't have free will, these aren't her choices, Ford wrote this all out for her when he altered her code, none of that story matters.

Yep. Take guest's DNA and make a host of them into the public world Delos just took evil up to 11.

I thought Maeve was going to be the smuggled host until they named Abernathy by name. Unless there are multiple people inside Delos attempting to smuggle hosts out.

I think it would have been neat because it would have meant Maeve overrode her programming to find her daughter.

Yeah, there’s specifically a season 1 scene where the brother is talking to Will about Arnold and his death as a reason the park has been struggling since it has messed with its insurance.

Maybe I missed it, but how do we know it's two weeks between the two Bernard segments? Did they outright say it and I just completely glossed over it?

Figured this episode would just be lots of setup without a lot of actual twists or questions asked, but they're just going straight bonkers right off the bat with all of this Bernard stuff and spooky faceless drones.
