Don't know! I'm flying blind trying to figure it all out on my own.
I know what I've spent down to the cent so if I do sell it for my asking price that's going to be a profit of about 70%, that's a lot of gravy.

I'll see what the reception is and adjust if needed.

People be Toyota crazy, man, the Land Cruiser tax is real. If you don't find a buyer in the next couple days, post it on yotatech/mud/pirate. Someone there will think they're getting it for a steal.

I know, but it wasn't the right time and I wasn't into it. I'll see about what that oil leak on the diesel one I posted is though, hoping for valve cover gasket and not rear main. Also taking a look at an AZ-1, doesn't look too hot but if there isn't rot then that isn't anything a wrap can't fix.

Just wondering but how do the Nissan Patrol's compare to the land cruiser? Were'nt they pretty comparable in terms of style and ruggability?

I mean Patrols are super cool but so limited in production and years it is really no comparison except for what like late 60’s. So yes no comparison.

Not as lively aftermarket system, not as active enthusiast community, seem to always have rust somewhere and not nearly as many out in the world. Since I only peek into this through Japanese auctions I could be way off/wrong/dumb as heck but that's been my observations. I'd like to pick one up just to see what they're like but it's difficult because Japan still likes Safaris/Patrols just fine where as the USA doesn't know them nearly as well. Means that I'd be competing against Japan enthusiasts without the same enthusiasts over here in the USA to sell to.

They do for considerably less money though and were certainly intended in competing with Land Cruisers.

Especially for getting it so cheaply. It has some faded paint which is nothing a fine spritz can't fix or go even lazier and just wrap it. It might need a timing belt done as there is no indication when the last time it was done and I'm sure it will be filthy dirty and it does look like it has some goofy seats installed. It's going to be a project! A project that can fit under my bed.

Toyota vs Nissan is a big argument here in Aus, and you will NOT find people who stand with a leg in each camp.

Essentially the line is if you want a power train that lasts forever but the body rots off, but a Nissan. If you want a body that lasts forever but the drivetrain eventually shatters, buy the Toyota.

If you guys are paying $17K for 1HZ landcruisers... I should start buying diesel landcruisers and flogging them into the US. You can buy HZJ75 Troopys for gently caress all here. Let alone selling turbo diesels...

Amusingly there are LOTS of guys who are dropping the 4.2L Turbo Diesel from the 100 series landcruiser into GU patrols, since the GU's version of the 4.2L was stolen from a forklift and is a boat anchor and the 3.0L 4 pot turbo diesel has a habit of turning pistons into pieces and blowing up injector pumps.

The solid axle landcruiser guys do sometimes steal the patrol diffs to graft the centre into the toyota axle, since the GU's run an 11" crown wheel vs the Toyota 8"

AZ1 looks good. I'd toss up whether a decent wrap is much cheaper than giving it a blow over somewhere, doing the prep work yourself.

You probably should. Don't forget, Kaker's metric needs to be what will sell well in the US, so while there is some debate over Patrol vs Cruiser, the Toyota likely has a stronger marketability over there.

It's a Kei class 4WD SUV that is mid engined, so there's a tiny front trunk you can never make use of.

Thanks guys, I'm pretty excited. In looking at it I see those KENWOOD humps in the rear window there. I wonder if this has the factory subwoofer back there or if it's some sort of custom speaker setup. I also found out that the 'AZ-1' muffler on the back there is a Mazdaspeed stainless steel one that they sold. :toot:

Yeah I wouldn't hesitate buying a Patrol/Safari if one looked neat but I wouldn't expect quick Land Cruiser money when it comes time to sell it, you'd have to explain what it is a lot more.
