I get what they were going for with that bit (the knowledge of his godhood is going to his head and it's making him an rear end in a top hat in the way most gods are) but I don't think it was executed very well. It just felt so sudden and grossly out-of-character.

When they are in Helheim and it happens again, Atreus says "that wasn't me". The vomiting and previous problems were caused by the internal conflict between mortal and god. I think it tells us that his god aspect has potential for malice the same as any other in the pantheon rather than it simply being a kid letting it do to his head. He has genuinely dangerous power and Kratos' fear is that we will grow to be yet another terrible god.

If we ever get GoW DLC, it won't be in 2018.

That's good, I'd rather we get part 2 sooner than getting another realm or something since I thought the non-story realms were the least interesting part of the game.

Yeah I really want a classic series of games. No horseshit, just some cliffhangers and tight stories told the way the devs want them to be told right out of the box. I enjoyed God of War so much. I love that it begins with you being so remote from the setting and then you go on a journey of pure discovery. The build into a climax (presumably in game 3) will be loving epic and I hate calling things epic.

If it makes you feel any better, I've beat the game, I'm going back to get all the upgrades and equipment, and STILL those fuckers, especially Eir, are a pain in the rear end.

You don't have to try to win the first go-round.

Is it the one where she goes up in the air and twirls her mace? You can interrupt her with an axe throw. For the AoE mace slam you just need to get distance from her.

The Valkyrie attacks that can be interrupted by axe-throws can also be interrupted by the BOY. I never threw my axe at one personally.

They begin again

Something I keep thinking about is how this game has made Kratos one of my favorite video game characters. It’s not because they rebooted him because they didn’t, it’s because they went back and dug out every single bit of depth from his character and instead of cutting out the bad they examined it and made sense of it in a mature competent and modern way.

Can’t believe God of War has depth in 2018 lmao I love this poo poo

It's the most balanced across the board, but you can specialise for massive runic etc with armour from Niflheim and Muspelheim's rewards. Niflheim armour can give you over 40 runic a pop for instance.

So I avoided the thread and media for a wihle because I didn't want this game to spoiled. I have played the old games before, and very much aware how much Kratos ending being an rear end in a top hat, the fact how they deal with his character in this is way better than how they hamfisted him as "hope" in the 3rd. What amazes me is the 2nd game, Cory Balrog was the director and Kratos was just an unlikeable rear end in a top hat. Like, at the least the first game he sorta had a reason but second name? Just wants to pout and be angry and cause wars cuz he mad. And here, we have Balrog as the director and my god they a great job with handling Kratos way better.

Spoilers obviously
For me, I'm very glad this was Kratos and not somone who was reincarnated as him. The way the story builds up his relationship with his son I felt was done well. I did at first get a bit tired of the whole Kratos wanting to comfort his son but holds back but I did feel they did grow very much. I mean goddamn the BOY ends up being a goddamn badass. My favorite part is when Kratos goes has to go back home, I immediately knew what he was going back for and I pumped my goddamn fist saying HELL yeah when it was the GODDAMN BLADES OF CHAOS. I very much enjoyed there was little killing of gods in this actually, as well Kratos didn't really need a reason to kill gods left and right.. Well unless they are trying to take or kill his son. :v: The final fight being Baldur once more was great and the ending was very satisfying. Yeah opened ended and surprise your son is Loki was OH poo poo. I still haven't touched post game but man this is one game I"m gonna keep going over and over. I can't wait for the sequel where I will kick Thor's poo poo in.

I can't wait for God of War 5.

I think it's important that they're not under any real time pressure. Like the world isn't ending, no one is a prisoner, there's no pressing impetus to journey. They just set out to serve their own seemingly banal goal which is very divine indeed.

The first pit of draugr is absolutely loving me to death on gmgow. It just sucks until you get some skills because it’s either “run away and axe” or bait a parry into executioner’s cleave for iframes and then run away. That’s my best damage option, too, because it does a LOT. Just kinda boring.

If you're talking about the one I'm thinking of, you can at least kill all the little ones by tossing them off the little cliff edge. Doesn't work on the heavies, where you kinda have to perfectly parry/execute for days. Something fitting about Kratos kicking people to their doom.

SHINee's back

I tried fighting a Valkyrie again last night, Kara I think, w/e one is the fire one who summons mobs. She was so piss easy it made me all confident to go back and try the first one I encountered and the bitch rolled me again smdh

Anything specific in tonight's patch, or just bugfixes and performance stuff again?

Careful.
We don't want to learn from this.
Finished the main quest tonight and I mostly enjoyed the game. Up until the end I was having a great time but never getting to fight Odin or Thor was a fairly big letdown. The game is huge but it seemed very incomplete to me.

Another gripe: boss variety. I suppose I was hoping for something like Dark Souls or Bloodborne. It seems God of War only has a handful of boss types and reuses them over and over again. Cases in point: The Stranger was great the first time. Did we really need to fight him again and again with little variation in move set? Same thing with trolls, giants, dragons, and valks.

That being said, still a great game. Maybe not GOTY but still excellent.

Unlike the previous two patches, 1.15 notes specifically states stability and performance improvements, alongside the usual bugfixes. So that will be interesting to see.
