Boba was part of the Imperial faction in X-Wing before FFG introduced Scum. Now that Wang is going 2.0 he's become Scum only.

So you never know.

Yeah him being Imperial only implies a direction being set. Which is a pity. I really like the sculpt though, sounds like he is going to be a tank that screws with opponents squads?

I'm thinking next release is Operative Chewie with Wookie war party.

Even without the events of forty years ago, I think man would still be a creature that fears the dark.
Boba Fett has an awesome sculpt and his rules look very strong as well. The Scout Troopers, while also having really cool sculpts, seem like worse versions of the Rebel Commandos to me - no attack surge, Scout 1 instead of Scout 2, and a short-ranged gun - but I suppose we'll have to wait and see more on the two units' upgrades.

So these 2 man scout squads are the flotillas of Legion? bring like 5 of them and drown your opponent in activation spam?

Except going later isn't as strong in Legion due to suppression. A bunch of low impact activations is going to drag your turn down.

Edit: I guess there are some situations where you want to go last, like double activating Vader as the very last move of the turn then activating master of evil next turn or something.

"It's a non-speaking role"
What is the text of the hunter upgrade? I can't find it anywhere, even on the FFG forums for some reason (There's a few topics talking about the new expansions and Duck and Cover).

It looks like it is: "When attacking a wounded trooper unit. During the roll attack Dice step, you may gain 1 aim token."
Is this correct?

Also, apparently you can take a suppression with duck and cover and use Low Profile to get heavy cover.
I don't really see the point of D&C without LP, though. It just doesn't seem worth it.

I kind of hope they don't have to do a big reorganization like they did with X-wing, and make Boba fett scum only. I was hoping they planned this one more carefully.

Not really. First off, you can only bring 3 of the specialist (or whatever they are called) units. It will probably depend on what your plans for the unit are to determine which version you bring. Plan on staying at extreme range and sniping things? Bring just the two man. Want to get up close and capitalize on that hefty primary attack of 2 black dice? You are going to want the larger squad.

While you can field more of the two man teams, they don’t have the ablative armor of other generic guys to sacrifice in their place when they start taking damage.

Ugh, less than 24 hours since the Boba announcement and already two players in my local scene have declared him OP. The whining and moaning of the only people I have to play with are really killing my enthusiasm for the game.

One thing that's interesting about Range 2 weapons is that there's a bigger incentive to go early and use the Ready action, to let the enemies come to you. A full squad is putting out 10 black dice, averaging a decent amount of hits and a couple of crits, not an attack you want to take in the open.

Edit: Boba fett looks like such a drat flexible and unpredictable piece, it'll be a nightmare to see across the table. He's probably an auto include with Veers for me, taking Vader out if the picture. I'm actually surprised his Courage is so high, isn't Han's only 2?

Also, his half hidden gear doesn't seem to hard to figure out. Looks like when you would suffer wounds, you can instead put up to two of them on the card. Then at the end of your next activation you suffer the wounds. You'll be able to stave off death an extra turn and kamikaze something. Seems like an autoinclude on just about any model.

I feel like Fleet Troopers are sort of defense/future proofing against these kinds of powerful solo models. He's very flexible and effective but just like Vader he can be drowned by hand fulls of white dice return fire.

Right, I'm not worried that there isn't an answer for him. Hell on paper he's got less ranged damage output than Han whose 20 points less. I'm just tired of the Sky is Falling stuff. At least see the stuff on the table first before you lose your mind right?

I think the best answer will be suppressive weapons, which rebels kinda lack at the moment.

It's funny cuz I saw that Boba Fett is a new unit type not in the base rules and my immediate pessimist knee-jerk reaction was "OMG they've already run out of ideas for Imperial Commanders, sky is falling, :aaaaa:" because I've come to expect incompetence from miniature game companies.

The reality, though, I suspect is the next Rebel announcement will be an Operative + something else and the follow Imperial announcement will be a Commander + something else.

Boba Fett looks awesome and I like the Scout Troopers, too

I wouldn't have expected them to introduce an entirely new unit type this early. I suppose having a non-commander bring both the mini's abilities alongside a set of command cards to the table provides a pretty good design space for a variety of pieces; I could easily envision both Boba Fett style dudes who are powerful and self sufficient, but also very supportive units that have both effects and command cards that give orders to other units and are the opposite of self-serving. Could easily see less fighting oriented characters like 3P0, R2, maybe old Obi Wan, etc falling into that category. It's also kind of a nice loophole to let you field dudes who thematically don't seem appropriate leading squads of troops in the OT time period but are more important than rank and file mooks.

Nope. For ranged attacks, both the attacker and defender must not be in melee. Also, you form all dice pools before resolving any of them, so no killing off the troopers in melee range, then shooting at something.

Ah ok, that makes sense. The ATST is in melee but not engaged. So it could do a small move, displacing at least one trooper (for suppression) then unload? I guess that raises the question, can an vehicle move into a squad to supress them via displacement, without starting a melee?

I don’t see why you couldn’t do any of that. But remember, if you give the trooper a suppression token before you fire, you potentially just gave them +1 cover.

How long is the crashed Xwing? And in which direction is it 19cm? Nose to back or wing to wing?

What do people who have played a few games think of the terrain density pictured? It was our first game and we thought there may have been a bit too much scatter. Or too many isolated elements. I know the early responses were that rebels suck if the board is too open.
