I unironically wear rabbit pelt ushanka during cold snaps in Wisconsin. It's what you want. I wore a fidora in Italy and other tourists were asking me for directions. Its not what i wanted. I guess here in the states a fidora is kind of like driving a miata. As a hat there is nothing wrong with it, it might actually make you happy inside. But the implications....
