I would give quite a bit to be able to play as Frank Horrigan in an arena shooter. Michael Dorn was amazing in that role.

I'd be fairly shocked if the modding was independent systems. In a universe where mods like "defeat" and "fertile breeder" exist, Bethesda is not going to take the chance that someone is going to turn this into a multiplayer rape simulator.

E: as Pauly points out, don't go googling those mods. Just use your imagination. Or don't.

The best mods currently disable Bethesda's lovely mechanics and smooth out the garbage combat aspects they never bother to address, with a multiplayer game these will be blocked; enjoy the glory of an unmodded Bethesda combat system.

I'm really curious how the leveling system will work. The videos I saw all showed character and enemy levels, which makes me think that there is some scaling, which makes me wonder how a friend jumping in at level 1 can play with someone at level 20 without getting 1 shot or feeling completely ineffective. I can't work my head around it to find a way that works but I'm probably missing something. Do you even "build" characters?

is loot instanced? people probably will turn off pvp (LAME) but still do some weird item grab rush when someone sets off end game nuke loot

Maybe you will have to have alts to play with low level friends, or maybe they figured out how to do it like WoW where each enemy is scaled to each player independently yet they can all cooperate to kill it (no clue how WoW does it from a technical standpoint, but they make it work somehow.)

I love the Vault wiki. They've got a page for the "Conqueror" creature type with a note that it has a "Scorched" subtype and a picture of what looks to be a feral ghoul raider.

There's also a page for "The Scorched" who have been announced as a creature type and described as feral ghoul raiders.

Also, taking a level 10 perk right out of the gate can dramatically affect how the game plays.

All Princesses are Tyrants

It's kind of jarring, doing all the NV Strip missions after doing the first three DLC all in a row. I love all the DLC but they're densely populated with enemies that give you a poo poo load of experience. I leveled from 30-35 in Honest Hearts in the span of 4 hours. Meanwhile, level 35 - 36 has thus far taken me 3 hours and I'm barely halfway there.

I have so many cool guns and kickass ammo, and instead of blasting things I'm relaying messages between Carlito and Joanna to the tune of *6* loving loading screens per trip. The fact that I'm sneaking prostitutes out of Gomorrah in disguises seems totally silly; I could headshot every Omerta in the casino in one VATS action. These strip missions (and the ones in freeside) feel like they were scaled for players who somehow sneaked past the deathclaws and arrived at level 2, not someone who's got A Light Shining In Darkness and 1000 rounds of hand load .45 in hold out, to say nothing of the vast arsenal I left at the door. And as outstanding as New Vegas writing is, I think most of the good stuff was saved for the set pieces and the DLC outside of the Strip.

The Strip and Freeside are just hubs for turning in quests, for the most part, I don't think it's fair to come back from by far the most difficult areas of the game and expect to be challenged in the equivalent of The Citadel from Mass Effect.

Of course you won't be challenged anywhere else either, since you've gone through the worst the game can throw at you, but that's better than constantly level scaling bullet sponge enemies.

Yeah, that's not much of a shock? All of that content was created when there was no DLC whatsoever and your average player would probably be level 10 or less by the time they reached the Strip unless they intentionally sought out every single experience point possible first. The DLCs themselves are meant for Couriers who are higher level than that, so there's an expectation that you'll do the available quests within New Vegas to level the appropriate amount to keep the DLCs from being too difficult.

I'm not sure what kind of point you're trying to make. Yes, of course the earlier game stuff is meant for lower-level players!

If you have 10 Luck, you can make crazy bank at the casinos. Just play lots of blackjack and you'll doubtlessly end up rolling in caps after a few days.

I made the game a little too easy on myself with the Run the Lucky 38 mod. I used gambling to bankroll upgrades pretty quickly, and now the Lucky 38 is so profitable that I'm making something like 10,000+ caps a day. Courier Six is now an independent business owner and the wealthiest man in the Mojave.

None of the fallout games have been particularly hard to get rich in, but New Vegas was certainly the worst about it. Had almost a million caps when I did my final "let's just 100% this and retire it for a while" run, and probably close to that in poo poo sitting unsold in the Novac safe.

Yes, I'm a pack rat and may need help.

It's not as much of an issue in New Vegas though, since there's lots of high level items (especially the Gun Runners' Arsenal DLC weapons) that cost thousands or even tens of thousands of caps. Paciencia has a base value of 12,000 caps. It would be a bigger problem in a game like Fallout 3, where there's simply not enough expensive gear to buy. I actually don't think there's a single unique weapon in Fallout 3 that can be purchased except the Wazer Wifle, which is only 500 caps.
