Today on Lando’s late afternoon walk, the little fucker caught a pigeon. It was waddling about two feet in front of him, and in one fluid motion, he lunged forward and seized the fatass bird in his mouth. I bellowed HOLY poo poo! and watched as Lando stood there, seemingly very pleased with himself, but otherwise not attempting to kill the bird. I was able to pry his mouth open and the bird flew away, but I was picking feathers out of his mouth for the next few minutes. It sure was a  moment if there ever was one.

She was very upset that she didn't get to keep it.

I’m a single dog dad for the next five weeks as my girlfriend is in Vietnam for work. So, Lando and I drove her to the airport really early this morning, and then took a big walk in the woods at the rear end-crack of dawn. Later, I decided to take him swimming. We had a great time playing fetch in the water before two chill rangers informed me that while Lando was welcome to keep swimming, I was not. We’d already been swimming for almost an hour, so we decided to pack it up.   My soggy doggy PTFO’d on the car ride home, and is now lazily chewing a Kong in front of the air conditioner. He’s had a great day.

Not gonna lie, one of the benefits of working for the Park Service is that you get to meet some pretty great dogs  I also met this weird dog today but I gave her some pets as well.

Fostering this very good girl Coral until she finds a home: I know her tag says Reese. She was surrendered to a rescue and has been living in a kennel for two months where they barely fed her. We’re going to fatten her up and let her sleep in the bed and totally spoil her for her next forever home.
