Supposedly we're getting version 2.0 around the time the first DLC hits.

There's still some cool weapons and spells in the game and the DLC might well introduce more, so they've still got a lot of patching to do

Really hoping they put that huge threading fix FPS boost in 2.0

This Shadows Under Neketaka boss fight is loving stupid. My metaphysics genius Aloth isn't allowed to look at the wards for me to bypass the fight and even though smashing the boss himself is easy the potd bonuses make protecting the wards during the fight impossible as far as I can tell, even when splitting everyone up to trigger all the shields and casting healing spells on them. There's also no practical way to tell how damaged they are during the fight.

Someone can correct me, but you don't need to save the wards during the fight, they just buff you against the dragon's attacks.

Late to the party but finished the game on veteran with scaling. It was a good challenge for me, at least on bosses. There is still one fight I can't beat - the fampyr cave for sanza's exploration quest. All my party have protection from int affliction and I still get chain charmed. Are they bugged? I cleared splintered reef no problem.

I've read that you're supposed to be able to split his soul without the metaphysics check if you beat him up first, which I'm not getting. I figured it might have something to do with the wards since they don't make much gameplay sense otherwise.

If the former make lots of captain's banquets which give you immunity and it makes it a whole lot easier. Buy every oyster and luminous lobster you come across.

Strengthened one ward, he got annoyed and I was like hang on buddy, give me a moment, then I strengthened another ward and he was like that's it I'll do you for that mate, then I bashed him and he gave up and was like fine whatever and I was able to split his soul.

Heithinn Grasida posted:One interesting facet of this game’s design is that mechanics are so complicated and explanations are often so vague, misleading or flat out incorrect that unless you spend a lot of time reading and crunching numbers, you’re often better off just going with what you think is cooler. Even on PotD, most of the time that will work out, though you’ll obviously have a rougher time of it than if you do everything super min-maxed. But on the other hand I have never planned out a build and actually stuck to it, so, yeah.

IMO there's too many small percentages in this game. Like +5% critical damage, wow, thrilling.

Finally picked this up and the idea of murdering mages with guns makes me happy. What is a fun build that uses arquebus or pistols? Seems like there is a ton of differing opinions out there.

The 5% hit-to-crit ones really tickle me. It comes up on at best 2.5% of attack rolls and gets worse the more hit-to-crit you have. Or comparing min's fortune to scordeo's edge. I know scordeo's edge is a late game item and is probably a dev's pet item (and it is really cool!), but stacking 2 accuracy per attack is just ridiculous and it has some of the most powerful on-hit effects of any melee weapon in the game on top of that. Two accuracy is worth at least 4 hit-to-crit and reduces the chance of misses and grazes!

I'm still getting chain charmed, makes the fight impossible. They might be casting Arcane Dampener on you as well, which probably removes food buffs like it removes drug buffs for the duration. You should be able to also Suppress Affliction if you spread out and have a stealthed character ready to counter charm.

Raged posted:Finally picked this up and the idea of murdering mages with guns makes me happy. What is a fun build that uses arquebus or pistols? Seems like there is a ton of differing opinions out there. Yeah, almost every class that isn't a caster can be built well for guns. Some casters too, actually, since Chanters get a gun-reload song (and can shoot and cast simultaneously) and Ciphers benefit from being able to do a fuckton of damage in one hit (since that's how they generate their magic points.) In general, gently caress around with the skill trees and check to see if the skills reference "weapons" or "melee weapons." Off the top of my head Barbarians are pretty much melee only and many monk abilities are melee only. Ranger is half "stupid accurate at range" and half "has a pet." The pet is a little underpowered on the harder difficulties, so a number of people who play rangers on path of the damned like the "Ghost Heart" subclass who can summon the pet wheneves and doesn't get a penalty if the pet dies during the fight. Fighter is solid all-around auto-attacker and will be stupid hard to put down. There's nothing bad to say about them, really, aside from being a tiny bit vanilla. Almost all of their abilities are at least solid, many are very good, and they end up being kinda more-than-the-sum-of-their-parts. Rogue looses some of their squishyness at range, but also has a harder time getting their sneak attack since they can't Always Be Flanking. Still it's easy enough to get other statuses that trigger sneak attack, rogues do probably the highest damage, and their skills are top notch. Seriously, rogue skills are nasty. Paladin is actually pretty good with guns! Their first level one-resource attack, Flames of Devotion, is a full attack (instead of a "primary attack") which means they fire both guns if you've John Wooed it up and are dual wielding pistols or blunderbusses. Their damage comes from fire bonuses, mostly, and they'll also be really hard to put down due to high defenses. You can take or ignore their support abilities as needed. Bleak Walker is the best gun-paladin subclass because they get bonus damage to Flames of Devotion, which you'll be spamming, but also playing a Bleak Walker kinda locks you into being an rear end in a top hat. You get a member of your party who's basically an arquebus specialist, she has a unique ranger subclass that gives her better range and reload. She can be a straight ranger, a ranger/rogue, or a ranger/wizard. I'd recommend either of the later two over straight ranger... or you can just ignore her if you wanna be only the gun-nut in the party! (IMO her faction kinda sucks too, although I like her a lot as a character.) Most of the time if you're planning on being a martial class it's worth it to multiclass. Weapon attacks are less influenced by "power level" than spells are, and you have the flexibility to use the bits of the classes you like and ignore the bits you don't. tl;dr - I suggest a multiclass of two of the following: fighter, ranger, rogue, chanter, paladin. Small hotfix patch up on beta branch Build 1.2.2.0031 Updates The Vendor in Port Maje, unlocked via Berath's Blessings, now sells the following items (if the party does not already own them): Scavenger's Lantern Stinky Pete Cloak of Berath Sails of Berath Cutthroat Cosmo If Maia leaves the party, she will only send 1 letter about her departure. Retraining now properly restores Level 1 abilities that were upgraded (and replaced) at later levels. Missing Strings (in Portuguese) have been added to the Mod Manager Interface.

They can be talked into working together in most cases, but there are a few hard points where they won't. And really those situations are unlikely to come up until you are ready to end the game anyway.

I used both of them pretty much the whole game and neither ever left because of a fight. You get some chances to kind of mediate things so if you gently caress that part up one of them will probably split. The way things went for me they actually came to a begrudging understanding of each other, it was nice.
