These lists can include DL mainstays (David Wright is the only one I can think of) or VERY recently-demoted/-released players (they have to have made at least one appearance in a 2018 game). These lists can NOT include dead people, baseball non-players, or free agents who have not played in 2018. I will email you back if you have any invalid list items, and I won't accept your list/s until all its/their items are valid. These are YOUR favorites & unfavorites, not necessarily the best/worst players. Yes, it is more fun when you justify your picks to me, but you should know that you can have favorites/un-favorites for any reason you like. You can love players for being good at baseball, having cute dogs, being sexy, etc. You can hate players for hitting their wives, having stupid hair, striking out all the time, etc. Don't overthink it. Use this thread to campaign for your most/least faves. GIFs, videos, pics, general facts -- Also, not everyone likes to be a Negative Nancy, so I am willing to accept ballots without unfavorites. How Voting Works Your #1 player will receive 10 points, your #2 player will receive 9, your #3 will receive 8, and so on. If you send me an incomplete list, it hurts your top picks -- so if you send me a list of 5 players, the top one receives 5, the next receives 4, etc. Deadline: July 29, 11:59pm. You have ten days. I know that everyone hates the Cardinals. I'm not going to try to persuade you to love the Cardinals as an organization. But friends, please consider welcoming Carlos Martinez into your heart. Carlos is 26 years old, has been on the Cardinals since 2013 and has been a fan favorite for years. Most people know Carlos primarily because of his larger-than-life personality. Carlos has a history of entertaining himself in the dugout... As well as others. He's the team's #1 cheerleader on days when he's not pitching... And is glorious to watch when it's his turn in the rotation. He loves his teammates... And he loves animals. The amazing thing about Carlos, more than his talent or his sense of humor, is the story of Carlos. He wrote a piece called Becoming a Cardinal for the Players Tribune that I highly encourage you to read. A quick TL,DR for you: Carlos is from one of the poorest areas of the Dominican Republic. His mother died when he was 8 months old and he never knew his father. His grandmother raised him in a two-room house containing 7 people in abject poverty. Carlos originally studied to be a priest but couldn't complete his time in the seminary because of an irregularity with his birth certificate. Because his mother hadn't registered his birth before she died his uncle had used another child's birth certificate when Carlos needed paperwork as a child. Carlos had to leave the seminary, took up baseball and left home in part to ease the financial burden on grandmother, since if he was traveling she wouldn't have to feed him. When he was 16 he was playing in Boston's academy as a shortstop when he was spotted pitching by David Ortiz and Pedro Martinez, who saw him hitting in the 90's on the gun and told him to focus specifically on his pitching. Carlos was signed by the Red Sox but the irregularity with his birth certificate resulted in his contract being voided and a one-year suspension. He ultimately used DNA testing to prove who he was and was signed by the Cardinals. When he first signed with the Cardinals one of the first things he did was buy his grandmother a house in a nice neighborhood. Since then he's founded the Tsunami Waves Foundation, which focuses on helping underprivileged children. Beyond the economic assistance and mission work, he's also helped bring a 17-year-old from the DR with leukemia, Camille Fernandez, to St. Louis to get medical treatment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=husMNmVtB1U Carlos overcame incredible childhood adversity, brought himself and his family out of poverty with his skill and now works to help others while playing the game with talent, enthusiasm and humor. Carlos is wonderful. If that's not enough, he's also got style... I posted with him during the World Series in 2017, he answered people's questions nicely, and he razzed me (in a fun way) when I complained about the quality of the commercials. If I didn't know how he actually was and my only impression of him were from Infield Chatter, he would be in my most loved ballot for sure.

I'm having some trouble remembering some exceptionally cool dudes to put on my ballot this year. I also have four Cubs already which is the max I'm willing to go full homer on. Please plug more cool dudes for me. The following players were among my 2017 entries and are still cool, but in the interest of switching things up they will not be on my 2018 list: Ichiro, Arenado, Kershaw, Altuve, Stanton.
